Banaue Rice Terraces

The Banaue Rice Terraces is a Philippine Cultural Heritage Site that is rich in
historical value. It is a system of irrigated rice terraces in the mountains of north central
Luzon, Philippines, that were created for more than 2,000 years ago by the native Ifugao
people that illustrate a persistent cultural traditions and remarkable endurance. Its
aesthetical beauty is over the top as it is described as a living cultural landscape of
unparalleled beauty and the Banaue Rice Terraces is a perfect example of real blending of
physical, socio-cultural, economic, religious, and political environment. And today, the
preservation of this beautiful heritage is continued with the National Heritage Act that
helped greatly to restore the area and removed from endangered list in 2012.
