NATIONAL DISASTER IN INDIA

Covid 19 pandemic is one of the biggest external crisis for human beings. Disaster as defined in
the Disaster management act,2005 of India which means a catastrophe, a mishap , calamity
arising from natural or man made causes which leads to substantial loss of life or human
sufferings.

Covid 19 is one such phenomenon which is an ‘unusual inexplicable occurrence’’with severe

devastation across all nations of the world. The Covid 19 pandemic unquestionably a catastrophe
that results in hardships, suffering or possible loss of life and therefore it was a national disaster.

In the current situation however , it is obvious that this pandemic is not an abnormal disruption
of a ‘normal functioning” but rather an normal consequences of an “abnormal” functioning. And
also the current situation has also set off a shock for existing social structures, which means that
it correlate to the notion of disaster which delegate a transformative event
