Impact of mobile computing in businesses

Introduction

Mobile computing is a modern technology that is strongly supported by the rise and growth of

mobility. Mobility has become a very common term in the modern field of computing and has

been increasingly growing.

In the development of mobile devices, including laptops, smartphones, GPS navigation and

PDAs with various security, networking and computing technologies, an implausible evolution

has emerged. In addition, as experienced earlier, with the advent of wireless technologies like

WIFI, Ad Hoc Network and WiMax, users could surf the internet more effectively without cable

limitations. The level of acceptance of mobile devices among individuals as their initial

entertainment and work has therefore increased in their daily lives (Hein, 2019). This paper

focuses on exploring mobile computing technology, with a specific assessment of how this

technology is used to increase business performance, growth, and profitability in the business

setting.

Mobile Computing

Mobile computing is characterized as a kind of interaction between humans and computers

through which a computer is supposed to be transported regularly. It is possible to view mobile

computing as an ensemble of three key principles, namely communication, software and

hardware. The definition of hardware depends on mobile devices, like laptops and smartphones,

or their mobile components. In mobile computing, the second software definition is the many

mobile apps on unique hardware devices that include anti-virus software, remotely stored games

on certain different servers, and mobile browsers. Thirdly, connectivity concerns include data

transmission infrastructure, protocols and mobile networks in their use, which must be

straightforward for terminal users. According to Bucki, (2019), mobile computing relates to

machine portability, where the process of computing services moves to mobile devices. Thus,

mobile computing is indivisibly related to the miniaturization of technology and the availability

of storage and cloud processing facilities that expand the capabilities of lightweight mobile

devices.

Advances of this kind have enabled location-independent computing, denoting a steady transition

from mainframes, laptops and personal computers to actual, ever-present mobile devices. Mobile

computing enables content to be personalized and localized, constantly providing the right

details to the user at the right time (Bucki, 2019)).

Mobile computing technology enables video, audio and data to be transmitted through a

computer or other registered wireless device without needing to be connected to a fixed physical

network. Tablets and smartphones are commonly used in all aspects of industry. Many

companies build software to support two or more mobile operating systems.

It is possible to build mobile apps for all types of mobile operating systems. For efficient

application execution, which processes memory and device power, there are two key mobile

device requirements. Mobile devices have two key issues, namely limited storage space and data

protection.

Today's mobile app creation needs to be combined with cloud infrastructure for stronger and

better results. The use of the idea of cloud computing makes it easier to construct mobile

computing (Vitez, 2019).

MOBILE COMPUTING

Mobile computing technology enables the use of computing devices that, although absent from a

fixed, usual workplace, usually communicate in some way with a central information system.

Mobile computing technology helps mobile workers to connect, produce, store, view, and

process information without being confined to one location. When mobile communication,

software, and hardware are optimally optimized and used to achieve a certain mobile mission,

the true mobile computing power becomes evident. While there are many different applications,

mobile computing applications can generally be grouped into two categories that involve vertical

and horizontal applications. Horizontal software contains broad-based software that performs

functions such as presentation, email, texting, web searching, to-do lists, word processing,

contract management, and scheduling. Horizontal systems are typically structured and

compatible with the software of the device. On the other hand, vertical applications are

industrial-specific and are only desirable in the particular industry for which the application has

been developed. In sectors like public safety and law enforcement, retail, medical, infrastructure,

shipping, and warehousing, vertical applications are typically used. .Vertical applications are

mostly transaction ally oriented and typically interfaced with an organizational database.

Mobile computing facilitates improvements in the operating performance of enterprises that have

incorporated technology into their static information systems. Instead of altering the workflow of

mobile staff to achieve the optimal computing configuration, this allows the power of computing

and knowledge found in the static information system to be built around the optimal mobile

workflow. The mobile device is used at its present location by mobile staff, instead of having to

drive to the workplace or to where the computers of the company are located. Mobile computing

can also be used to increase business performance in multiple ways, including reducing

unnecessary travel, saving time, reducing time spent on customer complaints, reducing waste,

improving precision, reducing cycle time, enabling process reengineering, and reducing rework.

Mobile Cloud Computing

The advent of mobile cloud computing was brought about by the advancement of modern

computing power and technology. This is a new model for mobile apps in which much of the

application-related data storage and processing is transferred from the mobile device to a

centralized, efficient cloud-based computing platform. Through using either a web browser or a

thin native client on the computer, the centralized applications are then retrieved via the mobile

Internet. Nevertheless, the strong commercialization, meaning and communication skills of the

mobile network are still not completely leveraged by this mobile cloud computing model. Mobile

cloud computing, on the other hand, is built on the concepts of cloud computing, creating

attributes that include anything as a service, on-site applications and on-demand access to the

mobile domain, including payment as a service and network as a service, to optimize on-demand

functionality and allow maximum mobile networking leverage and billing to be implemented

without specialist requirements. After its launch, mobile cloud computing technology has

attracted the attention of entrepreneurs as a profitable business choice that reduces the cost of

running and creating mobile apps. .As a novel technology, the technology often attracts

smartphone users to obtain rich experience of various mobile services at a reduced price. Mobile

cloud computing is also a promising green core IT solution for researchers .Mobile cloud

computing is considered to be one of the potential developments in mobile technology, as it

brings together the advantages of combining both cloud computing and mobile computing to

deliver optimal services for mobile users. Mobile cloud computing supports apps that include,

among others, mobile healthcare, mobile learning, and mobile commerce. Mobile commerce

MOBILE COMPUTING

refers to a model that uses mobile devices for business commerce. Mobile commerce apps

usually perform a variety of tasks that include mobility, such as mobile ticketing, mobile

purchases, mobile messaging, and mobile payments. However, this application faces a variety of

difficulties, including the difficulty of high mobile device configurations, poor network capacity,

as well as security problems. Thus, most mobile commerce apps are incorporated into the cloud

computing environment to resolve these issues (Alamy, 2017).

Mobile learning (m-learning) is based on electronic mobility and learning and is organized.

However, conventional m-learning implementations include limitations with regard to high

network and system costs, low network transmission speeds, and restricted instructional

materials. Cloud-based m-learning systems are used to overcome these limitations, providing

learners with resources that are richer in terms of longer battery life, higher processing speed and

data size by using a cloud with high processing power and wide storage space.

Mobile healthcare refers to medical devices that are used to minimize the limitations of

conventional medical treatment, including medical errors, minute physical storage, privacy and

protection. Mobile healthcare provides easy support for mobile users to quickly and easily

access resources such as patient health records. Instead of owning independent local server

applications, it also provides healthcare companies and hospitals with various on-demand cloud

services. Other market-based mobile technology technologies include mobile gaming that allows

gaming, and mobile banking that allows different mobile banking services, including account

transfers, balance checks or payments (Hein,2019)..

Conclusion

Computer technology has progressed to produce more efficient computer hardware, marked by a

decrease in physical size but an increase in functionality and capability. This ongoing

technological innovation has led to the creation of mobile devices that allow users to perform

tasks previously performed by personal computers anywhere and at any time. This has

contributed to a major shift in the way individuals perform their everyday business operations.

For any company that considers incorporating this technology into its fixed information

structure, mobile computing offers major benefits. However, in terms of storage capacity, battery

life and security, among other items, this is without limitation. The technology has still provided

advanced techniques where cloud technology has been implemented into mobile computing to

create cloud mobile computing to overcome these challenges. This has made it possible for

mobile computing to be used in hospitals, retail services, and banks, among others, to manage

more sophisticated business operations, improving performance, accuracy and timely business

operations.
