From our research on the network devices, I have notice their respective descriptions, functions,

specifications and its’ usual symbol that is used in creating a network diagram. The devices namely:
Network interface card (NIC), Modem, Hub, Bridge, Switch, Router and Gateway are the devices needed
to be able start a connection between a PC and a network. First, Network Interface Card (NIC) is a
hardware component installed in a computer to provide a network connection to the computer. (*It acts
as ________ in order for the computer to connect to a network. ) Without this , a computer or PC is
impossible to connect to a network. NIC also offers a varieties of speed rating that suggest the general
performance of the card. Also, NIC does not only allow wireless connection such as a connection via
Internet but also wired communication such as a connection through Local Area Network (LAN).
However, a driver is required in order for the data to pass between the computer's operating system
(OS) and the NIC. Second, modem or modulator-demodulator is usually seen between the computer
and the wall or cable box depending on the provided internet connection. It transform the analog
signals that passes through the cable lines to digital in order for the computer to read the sent
information, since computers only understand digital signals. Different modem can vary from the
number of LAN ports, the supported frequency bands, the speed rating, modem type, data rate and the
type of modulation used depending on the internet plan you have. It is usually represented as a tiny box
with holes infront. Next is the Hub, it is used to connect multiple computer or other network devices
together

Moreover, I have observed the differences and similarities of some network devices in terms of
its function.
