Experiment No.8: To Perform Load Test on 1-Phase Induction Motor. Aim: To Perform Load Test On 1-Phase Induction Motor. Apparatus: Sr. ‘Name of Equipment Rating No. 1 Voltmeter 0-300V, 2 ‘Ammeter: 0-20 3. Wattmeter 300V. 20A. 4. Tachometer = 5 1-Phase Variac = 6. I-Phase Motor (capacitor start motor) 1440rpm, 2HP, The load test is conducted to determine efficiency of motor by actually loading it. One of the method to load 1-Phase motor is by leftand pulley arrangement. Brake is applied to the motor by pulley mounted on the shaft. The pulley and it’s one end is connected to the weights spring balance and its mounted to fly wheel. The tension of the belt can be adjusted by putting weight on the belt. This by adjusting tension on belt, motor is locked up at its rated value. Since the out put of 1-Phase Induction Motor is mechanical, Let T1 = Balanced weight reading T2= Weight of belt T3 = Radius of pulley in M ‘Torque = (T2-T1) x 1 Kg-m = (T2-T]) x 9.81 N-m P= (2aNT/ 60) W Input Power = VICos Out put = (OP) / (UP)] x 100 Procedure: 1. Connect the circuit as per diagram. 2. Arrange the pulley and belt arrangement 3. Switch ON the supply and keep the motor on no-load and the parameters. 4. Load the motor by tightening the belt gradually by putting weight and note down the readings. Continue the same process up to rated current. 6. Find the efficiency of motor and plot variation of n v/s output.
