Solving Problems: (5 Points each)

1. An automobile is moving South with an absolute velocity of 20
mph. An observer O is stationed 15.24-meter to the East of the
line of travel. When the automobile is directly West of the
observer, a) what is the angular velocity relative to the observer?
After moving 15.24-meter South, b) what is its angular velocity
relative to the observer at O? (Unit in rad/sec.) [5 Points]

2. A ball is thrown vertically upwards with an initial velocity of 65.616 ft/sec.

Two seconds later, a second ball likewise is thrown vertically upwards
with velocity of 40.264 mph. Determine the height H where the two balls
meet. (Unit in Meters) [5 Points]

3. Determine the distance traveled by car A when they

pass each other in unit feet. Car A starts from rest at
t = 0 and travels along a straight road with a constant
acceleration of 4.09 mph until it reaches a speed of
24.38 m/sec. Afterwards it maintains this speed. Also, when t = 0 , car B located 6000 ft
down the road is traveling towards A at a constant speed of 720 inch/sec. [5 Points]

4. Determine a) the initial velocity vA in unit meter per second and

the inclination angle θA at which it was thrown. Also, find the b)
magnitude of the ball’s velocity when it strikes the ground in unit
inch per second. If the ball is thrown off the top of the building
and it strikes the ground at B in 3 second. [5 Points]

5. A roller coaster travels over the top A of the track section shown with a speed of 60 mph.
Compute the largest radius of curvature ρ at A such that the passengers on the roller
coaster will experience weightlessness at A. (Unit in feet) [5 Points]
