The rest of this section presents previous studies on online learning conducted during the COVID-19

crisis, and also some studies related to online learning challenges and educational technology in general.
This disease (COVID) 2019 crisis has already had a significant effect on not only the world's economic,
psychological, and social aspects, but also, and particularly, the educational sector. The concept of a de-
schooling society appears to be relevant as the current scenario attempts to keep our children away
from the traditional formal education system and provide them with opportunities to thrive on their
curiosity. (Illich, 1971)

It is correctly stated that, as a result of the COVID-19 crisis, teachers and students alike felt compelled to
embrace the digital academic experience as the summum bonum of the online teaching-learning
process. (Lederman (2020) Teachers can cater children's digital skills that are on the verge of cyber risk
into educational opportunities to ensure success in future ventures, especially in this pandemic where
children are completely reliant on online learning. (DQ Institute, 2019)

The coronavirus is upending lives, posing a long-term threat to our educational institutions from
kindergarten to tertiary level, and has exacerbated the teaching-learning process day by day. Aside from
philanthropic efforts, some people hope to turn their entrepreneurial abilities into profit-making
opportunities. (EdSource, 2020)

Thus, this study seeks to explore the challenges of Adapting in New Normal Education: Perceive
difficulties and struggles of the JHS students in Upper Bicutan, Taguig City for the S.Y. 2020-2021.
