Read the Chapter 10 Case Study on pages 537-38 and continued on pages 576-77. Respond to
the 3 questions on page 577.

Discussion Questions
1. What project management tasks should Kelvin perform before his next meeting?
Kelvin needs to do a much better job of communicating regularly with the
stakeholders of the company about the security updates. Another thing Kelvin
missed was that he was trying to do the upgrade all at once. One tip that Charlie
gave that was good was to make the changes in small steps. That makes the
change easier to understand and easer to implement.

2. What change management tasks should Kelvin perform before his next meeting, and how
do these tasks fit within the project management process?
They need to add the group of technical analysts to the technical review
committee. The plan was approved during the review committee, but all the
questions came from the people that were not on that committee.

3. Had you been in Kelvin's place, what would you have done differently to prepare for this
meeting?
If it was me in Kelvin’s place, I would have made sure to know what questions
the stakeholders might have had before getting into the meeting. Just by him
being surprised that there were so many questions tells me that he had not done
the prep work of communicating the upgrades.
