MULTISLICE C.T. SCAN OF CHEST

CT scan of chest was performed on an ultra fast CT scanner using 0.6 mm collimation. Retrospective
3D reconstruction of volumetric data was performed to obtain coronal and sagittal MPR / MIP images.

Findings:

Scan is expiratory

Mild posterior subpleural reticular opacities are seen along both lower lobes with atelectatic
bands.

Subpleural, subsegmental consolidations seen predominantly in both lower lobes.

No nodules/ cavitation noted.

Mild right sided pleural effusion with basal collapse / atelectatsis

Few lymphnodes are seen in the superior mediastinum regions, largest measuring 9 mm in short axis.

Trachea and major bronchi appear normal.

The chest wall appears unremarkable.

Mild cardiomegaly

Impression:

 Posterior subpleural reticular densities along the bases with atelectatic bands,
appear to be basal dependant densities .
 Subsegmental/ subpleural consolidations seen in both lower lobes
 Mild right sided pleural effusion with cardiomegaly.
 Ground glass haziness of both lungs is probably due to expiratory nature of the
scan. However follow up is suggested
