Background
The Vocational Skills Development Program (VSDP), which is financed by the Swiss Agency for
Development and Cooperation (SDC), is implemented in Myanmar by Swisscontact (the Swiss
Foundation for Technical Cooperation). The Program's overall goal is: ‘Gainful and market demand-
driven employment or self-employment and better income for disadvantaged women and men in
targeted areas of Myanmar.’ VSDP has four components, namely the Hotel Training (HT Component),
the Local Vocational Training (LVT Component), the Apprenticeship Component and the Policy and
Stakeholder Engagement (PSE Component).
Swisscontact is currently looking for the Local Vocational Training Instructors for the occupation Air-
conditioner Installer to guide and support the field implementation of Local Vocational Training in
Mon and Kayin State and Tanintharyi Region, Myanmar.

Overall responsibility
The LVT Instructor for Air-conditioner Installer will work with a team and develop, establish and
deliver LVT courses for Air-conditioner Installer in Mon and Kayin State and Tanintharyi Region,
Myanmar.
He/she will:
• Active support the development of the new training course and learner material
• Prepare, establish, manage and deliver 12-week long vocational training courses in the
occupation Air-conditioner Installer to disadvantaged people
• Monitor and report to the LVT course activities and learner performance.
He/she will support the development of the course training material in reference to VSDPs standard
operation procedures.
He/she will establish and deliver the LVT courses under the direct supervision of the Training
Supervisor based in the State/Region of the assignment.

Tasks
The main tasks for the new positions ‘LVT Instructor for Air-conditioner Installer’ are to develop and
establish the new training course and the delivery of 12-week training courses in Mon, Kayin state
and Tanintharyi.

You will be developing under guidance the new training course at the begin of your assignment
followed up by a comprehensive training to an LVT Instructor specialist for the delivery of 12-week
short term courses to our target groups.
The LVT Instructor for Air-conditioner Installer will carry out the following duties
Training course development
• support actively the development of the modular training package, consist of training
manuals, curricula and learner material, for the new occupation based on your occupational
experience.
• Defined equipment and material specifications for the procurement procedures
• Prepare and establish the training facility, including teaching aid to deliver the new training
course (e.g. classroom, workshops, training material and equipment for practical skills
training)
Training establishment and delivery
• Prepare for the Local Vocational Training by reviewing the learning material and arranging
the training venue.
• Deliver a 12 weeks x 5 days LVT training to disadvantaged people for the occupation Air-
conditioner Installer based on the Training material developed.
• Develop the weekly schedule for the LVT Instructor team as well as identifying slots for the
life skills training in coordination with the responsible instructor.
• Prepare for individual training sessions and deliver the course in line with the learning
objectives and competencies.
• Monitor and provide feedback on the training content and materials.
• Jointly with the LVT Training Supervisor or Local Coordinator, manage, maintain and keep
log books of the training equipment, materials and consumables.
• Establish and maintain a constructive training environment for the learners.

Monitoring and other support

• Support the learners in finding employment opportunities.
• Have a weekly planning and feedback session among the instructors' team and Training
Supervisor.
• Support the Instructor for the Life Skills training sessions as needed.
• Keep records and report on progress of the learners. Report weekly to the Training
Supervisor on attendance and other training issues. Engage in meetings with the LVT team
upon request.

Other duties:
• Travel to other Townships when required.
• Perform other tasks as required.

Required qualifications, experience and competencies

Qualifications
• Have completed high school. Having a university degree is an advantage
Professional experience
• At least 5 years of professional experience as Air-conditioner Installer
• Previous experience in facilitating and supporting vocational training would be an advantage

The LVT Instructor will be assigned to Townships in Kayin and Mon State and Tanintharyi Region.
