Mandala
Do you knowHave you ever heard of Mandala? Maybe, you may study have studied
Mandala in the class of social studies classes. So, I will tell you the history and meaning of
Mandala, meaning of Mandala so on.
It is said that the origin of Mandala originated is ancient India. Also, it is said that in
Japan, Esoteric Buddhism is was introduced to Japan in the Nara period, and Mandala is were
introduced in the Heian period. Mandala is were brought [WHERE?] by Kūkai.
Even though it is all called Mandala, actually there are many different types, about 100
types. It is said that Mandala reflects Esoteric Buddhism Buddhist cosmology. More
specifically, Mandala is expressedrepresent in details contents of Buddha enlightenment by a
painting and sculpture. In Esoteric Buddhism, the Diamond Realm Mandala and the Taizokai
Mandala are the most valued of Mandalas, and these two make up the Ryobu Ryōbu Mandala.
These Mandalas are the most famous in Japan. The Garbha-dhatu dhātu Mandala is based on
the “Mahavairocana Mahāvairocana Sutra”of the esoteric scriptures and the Diamond realm
Mandala is based on the “Vajrasekhara Sutra” of the esoteric scriptures. In India, these
mandalas were made separate intentions, but in China, both Mandalas was were considered a
pair.
The Garbha-dhatu dhātu Mandala is divided into 12 groups including center of the
Garbhadhatu mandala and arranged. Watching Looking at this Mandala, you see a lot of
Buddhas. These Buddhas are expressedrepresent a large world that accepts the people who

At first glance, the Garbha-dhatu dhātu Mandala and Diamond realm Mandala have

COMMENTS:

There are many big problems that you need to address. (But that’s why you will write several

drafts!)

First, YOU NEVER really explain what a mandala is! You ask it your listeners have heard of them,

but you cannot assume that they have. Consequently, they will not be able to form a visual image

in their heads. When you say “mandala,” they won’t know whether you are talking about a

person, place, practice, poem… You MUST begin with a brief and clear description of a mandala.

I suggest you consult a dictionary for a hint.

Secondly, you never really explain the connection between Mt. Kōya and mandala. You MUST tell

your listeners why they are important in Shingon Buddhism.

Next, your nomenclature is very confusing. While it is true that the two mandala each have

English, Japanese and Sanskit names, you must be careful. For example, you refer to the 金剛界

曼荼羅 as the Diamond Realm Mandala (i.e. in English). But you refer to the 胎蔵界曼荼羅 as

Taizōkai Mandala (Japanese). Then you introduce the Garbha-dhātu Mandala. Now, I happen to

know that this is the Sanskrit name of the Taizōkai Mandala. But nowhere in your presentation do

you clarify that. Your listeners will be very confused. (I recommend using only the Japanese and

English names.)

Finally, you use too many vague, unclear phrases. What do you mean when you say the mandala

have different thought[s]? Are they people? What do you mean when you say “these mandala

were made separate intentions”? Do you mean they were each made WITH separate intentions

(=aims)? Or do you mean something else? See my comments for other instances in which your

word choice is problematic.

I hope that, as you do more research and read more extensively on the subject of mandala, you

will have more things to say. (I notice that you have only given two sources, and one of them is

Matsunaga. So you need at least two more sources!!!)
