Wood Castle Furniture Door Hinge Adjustment Guide

Wood Castle uses Salice (brand) adjustable hinges in our large case goods. When adjustment is necessary,
please consult these guidelines.
I Hardware Description
1. A cabinet-side, T-shaped mounting plate. Note the
aft-end release tab. Depressing this tab allows the door-
side hinge to be removed from the mounting clip.
Mounting plate includes two adjustment screws (# 2
and #3).
2. Door-side hinge. The hinge allows for a 165-degree
door swing from fully closed to fully open. Includes
adjustment screw #1.
3. Three adjustment screws (see illustration):
Screw #1: front, located through access hole when
hinge is extended.
Screw #2: middle, near “T” intersection of mounting
plate.
Screw #3: rear, at the rear of the mounting plate.
4. (Not provided) #2 Phillips head screwdriver.

II Floor Placement
Proper cabinet placement is key to successful adjustments. Uneven floors may cause the cabinet door opening to skew. Even a slight
skew makes door hinge adjustments problematic. To assure best results, check for skew, and shim the odd leg as necessary.

III Adjustment Strategy: three dimensions

To improve fit to the cabinet, minor hinge adjustments can involve rotation (see Fig 1), elevation (see Fig. 2) and pitch (see Fig. 3).
Start with the left-hand door and parallel it to the cabinet opening. Adjust the right-hand door to match the first. Make fine adjust-
ments to one or both doors for best overall fit.

IV Step-by-Step Adjustment of Cabinet Doors

Screw #1: Adjust parallel of outer door edges to cabinet opening. (See Fig. 1.)
1. Open cabinet door wide for access to adjustment Screw #1. Using Phillips screwdriver, turn
Screw #1 to increase or decrease gap adjacent to the hinge.
2. Close door to inspect result of adjustment(s) in Step 1. Readjust hinge(s) as necessary until door

edges are parallel with cabinet edges. Gaps between cabinet and door should be uniform. (Fig.
1 shows how Screw #1 adjusts the door by rotation, pivoting slightly relative to the hinge being
adjusted.)
Screw #2: Adjust door up and down. (See Fig. 2.)
3. Turn Screw #2 clockwise to raise door relative to the cabinet opening. Turn counterclockwise to
lower door relative to the cabinet opening.
4. Close door to inspect result of adjustment(s) in Step 5. Readjust hinge(s) as necessary to center

door in cabinet opening. (Fig. 3 shows how Screw #3 adjusts the door elevation relative to the
cabinet opening.)
Screw #3: Adjust vertical parallel (pitch) to cabinet face. (See Fig. 3.)
5. Turn Screw #3 clockwise to move door away from you. Turn screw counterclockwise to move
door toward you.
6. Close door to inspect result of adjustment(s) in Step 3. Readjust hinge(s) as necessary until door
is vertically parallel and appropriately flush to the cabinet. (Fig. 2 shows how Screw #2 adjusts
pitch of door relative to the cabinet.)
Note: Three hinges may be used on some larger doors (e.g., full-length armoire doors). It is usually not necessary to make adjustments to the middle hinge. Fig. 3
