The constraints or obstacles to achieve 100% renewable

source based energy in your country:

1.Many of the underlying issues and barriers, lack of adequate policy frameworks,
institutional settings, markets, financing, technological development, human resources
and slow diffusion rates of new technologies have constrained deployment of renewable
energy technologies in Bangladseh.
2. the externality costs acts as market barriers for advancement of renewable energy
technologies.
3. Further design and implement effective strategies for Bangladesh, appropriate policy
mechanisms and institutional settings are necessary for long-term sustainability which is
A huge lack of that .
4. activities are going on without any coordination of the energy .
5. lack of well constracted mapping
6. Under the Policy and Government Commitment we can see Limited effective policy in
addressing the challenges of utility-scale renewable energy development ,Government is
committed, but currently does not have a strategy on how to achieve its commitments and
targets ,Renewable energy targets in government policy have either expired or look too far ahead
(closest target after 2021 is 2041) ,Policy guidelines and incentives for the private sector do not
always apply to renewable energy projects as they do for conventional fossil fuel projects ,The link
between carbon reduction commitments and country targets for new renewable energy capacity is
absent ,Although there are targets in the PSMP, there is limited government planning and guidelines
to procure utility-scale renewable energy ,Limited coordination and information on procurement
because of the absence of a “one-stop” service

7.Also SHS is not affordable in Bangladesh .

8. there have high initial cost of RETs
9. In Institutional Limited knowledge of renewable energy technologies and benefits of
renewable energy in the energy sector also Lack of experts with experience in large-scale
renewable energy projects also Limited experience when it comes to procuring new
renewables capacity.
10. Also we can see in Procurement and Bidding there have Gap in coordination between
authorities responsible for developing bids and authorizing ,procurement decisions
,Standardized transaction documents such as PPAs for renewable energy-based power
projects, need to be updated, Limited project implementation time given to developers .
11. Under the Solar and Wind resource Data there have ,Limited renewable energy resource
data for solar PV in specific regions, including measurements of seasonal variation Lack of
studies on renewable capacity potential considering land availability and other constraints
Absence of zoning for renewable energy projects where site-specific resource data can be
measured.
12. Renewable energy targets and plans are not synchronized with future electricity
transmission
infrastructure plans, as they are for conventional power plants
13.Land acquisition is a bigger problem than availability: land procurement process is
lengthy and
complex
14. Different policies and support for new transmission infrastructure for conventional
power plants
and renewable energy plants
15.Limited assessment of potential sites for renewable energy based on transmission
capacity
16. Limited support from government to identify suitable land or zone land for projects
17.Difficult to access substation or load distribution information. No national grid capacity
studies have been conducted
18.Difficult to identify suitable land; no actual definition of agricultural and non-agricultural
land
19..Limited coordination between BPDB and PGCB when negotiating for available grid
capacity
with developers
20.Stringent grid-code requirements for renewable energy plants
21. Limited support from government to identify suitable land or zone land for projects
22. No standard guidelines for grid integration, or not publicly available
23 Limited feasibility studies done on grid stability and no integrated study on grid
expansion
24 Land availability for projects is limited in Bangladesh because most of the land is
designated as agricultural land, which cannot be used for renewable energy projects.
25. Weak adaptation of Environmental Standards in terms of the use under SOCIAL AND
26. Information Barrier
While this area is improving, there is a lack of information and awareness about the benefits and
need of renewable energy. Investment and capital allowances have been made available for the
implementation of renewable energies. There is a clear need for government agencies to assist and
advice applicants and potential recipients how to go about applying for renewable energy
incentives.

27. Cost Issue

The high initial cost of installation is one of the major hurdles in the development of renewable
energy. Although the development of a coal plant requires about $6 per megawatt, it is known that
wind and solar power plants also required high investment. In addition to this, storage systems of
the generated energy is expensive and represents a real challenge in terms of megawatt production.

28. The uncertainty in energy production in renewable energy technologies is making integration
more complex.

29. The unequal playing field brought by other energy industries is one of the barriers to renewables

30. The misconceptions with the reliability of renewable energy can be one of the barriers to
adopting wind and solar power.
