BASENJI

ORIGINS

The basenji dog breed originated from central Africa Cingi around 1875. It a type of hound known as the
Sighthound a.k.a Gazeland due to their ability to hunt primarily by sight and speed not by scent like their
cousins the Scent hounds.

CHARACTERISTICS

There are more affectionate, playful and their intelligence exceeds that of any hound dog as they have
to be consider actions that benefit them and others around them. Other dogs bark but the Basenji turns
to make a sound which described as yodeling, therefore there's less noise in the your house which a plus
for pet owners.

PHYSICAL STATUE

The Basenji males height is around 41cm to 43cm while the female's height ranges from 38cm to 41cm
which makes a suitable pet to keep even apartments. The weight of a full-grown Basenji male and
female is around 10kg-12kg and 9kg-11kg respectively. Basenji fur colour ranges black, brindle, tricolor
to back and white.

HEALTH ISSUES

Around 4years to 8years they usually suffer from genetic diseases known as Fanconi Syndrome,
therefore you need to get urinary tests when it's around 3years as the disease is treatable.
