Classifications of Volcanic Eruptions

Magmatic eruptions involve the decompression of gas within the magma that drives the magma
forward. Phreatomagmatic eruptions are the result of interaction of magma with water and can
be very explosive. Phreatic eruptions are driven by the heat from magma interacting with
water. Magmatic is different from these two with the reason that magmatic is driven by
thermal expansion while the two involves contact with water. Phreatomagmatic and Phreatic
are different because phreatomagmatic includes new magma while phreatic does not.
