Poort et al.

developed and piloted tested “iaya” mobile application which is a mental health care
for cancer patients. The features of the app includes psychoeducation, coping and strategies in
managing cancer, and an online social community. The application resulted in expected
feasibility and usability but low in engagement with the users. The challenges encountered in
the app are the participants' dropouts, retention and a need for a large sample for a more
reliable result in providing psychosocial services to cancer patients.

The research recommends the integration of a mobile application into the clinic and further
knowing of the feasibility and efficacy of the app in provision of mental health care services for
patients with cancer.

● Problems are encountered in the evaluation of the application, where technology can
arise and the application needs maintenance and other participants aren't able to follow
the updating of the application.
● There is a need to develop mobile health technologies to determine its feasibility,
acceptability, self-efficacy, and effectiveness in provision of mental health care services
to a target population.
