In alliances, i think there are two popular reason that it make merger fail. First,
Cultural conflicts is the root of failure merger failures. Sprint had a traditional
culture while Nextel had a modern and impulsive decision-making culture. So the
style and approach of both companies were way too different from each other,
creating discomfort for the employees and make them leave.The second is due to
differences in target customer driven products. As for Disney and Miramax, their
merger failed because the targeted content that Disney movies are directed to
children, Miramax is aiming for adults. Thereby, we see the failed mergers of
companies coming from many different reasons.
