It is a farming practice in which the farmer and other labours are involved in
the production of crops, for commercial purposes.

2.Describe the strategies which can be used by farmers to reduce soil erosion (3)

Planting vegetation like trees

Add mulch and rocks to prevent the plants and grass underneath to prevent soil erosion.

WHY THERE ARE FOOD SHORTAGES IN BANGLADESH

CORRUPTION

Corruption has heavily affected the country.Any money or aid received is embezzled and the
political elite has close links to drug cartels.

TOO MANY PEOPLE


There are just too many people in Bangladesh and that puts a strain on the countries food
supply leading to severe food shortages

THE LAND IS TOO SMALL

Considering its population,Bangladesh is a very small country.The available agricultural land


cannot support the bangladeshi majority even with todays modern technology,it cannot
sustain the people as a whole.

POOR ECONOMY

Poverty in Bangladesh is a major problem.The economy is in tatters thus the government


cannot afford to buy food imports.The country relies heavily on foreign aid.

MONSOON FLOODING

Bangladesh is a low lying country prone to monsoons.Any money supposed to buy food food
imports is immediately diverted to flood relief as that is regarded as more important

DRUG CARTELS

Drug cartels and gang violence plays a large part in Bangladesh.That makes it an undesirable
location for investors and food companies leaving the tiny nation with no food.
