GENERAL INFORMATION
A. Qualifications for Admission:
1. Filled-up application form;
2. Passed the graduate (written and oral) examination to be administered by the CFES graduate program office;
3. Graduated a 4-year or 5-year bachelor degree program in Forestry, Environmental Studies, and any other related
fields from a recognized institution;
4. Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2.5 in the previous sought degree program;
5. For foreign students, in addition to the foregoing requirement shall also submit TOEFL or IELTS or any other
English language measurement tool, unless the applicant is originated from English speaking country or proof that
the medium of academic instruction in the country of origin is English;
B. Documentary Requirements:
a. Original or authenticated copy of Transcript of Records;
b. Original or authenticated copy of diploma;
c. Honorable dismissal or its equivalent document;
d. Recommendation letter from two former professors or one immediate supervisor;
e. Concept paper on the proposed/preferred
▪ research/thesis (MScF)
▪ capstone project (MESF)
f. Proof of payment for fees that will be determined by the graduate office; and
g. Any other requirements that the examiner may require to screen the qualification of the applicant.
C. Credit Transfer
Transferees from other schools may apply for credit of the units earned provided the course description and contents
are more or less similar to the course description of this program. In no case shall the credited units exceed twelve-
unit credits. The graduate office of the CFES shall evaluate the merits of the application and approve the application.
D. Classification of Graduate Students:
1. Regular. A full-fledged regular graduate student who satisfactorily complies with all the requirements for
admission including those prescribed by the College offering the degree sought.
2. Conditional. An applicant with deficiencies in undergraduate work as evaluated but satisfies all the basic
requirements for admission. The said deficiencies should be satisfied on or before the end of the second semester
of the first year of attendance. This may also apply to graduate students who are working.
3. Probation. An applicant who fails to earn a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better in the previous sought
degree, but has proven to be capable to pursue a graduate degree. A student on probation should be dismissed
from graduate studies if he/she fails to earn a weighted average grade of 2.5 or better in the first semester of
residence.
4. Not Qualified. An applicant who does not have the necessary preparation to pursue the degree sought.
