As we reached all down to the fairways which was not far away from
the kindergarten. Residents welcome all the children with greetings
and warm hugs. Some children started drawing colourful pictures for
resident where other seem busy reading books to them. It was such
a warm atmosphere where children and residents laughed and sing
songs together. Most children had one on one interaction with
others. Throughout their time spent with the residents. The
rewarding day all the fairways came to an end, with children sharing
delicious fruit platter and sandwiches with the residents. Residents
thanked the educators for bringing all the children for a visit by
reciting a very emotional speech. Children hugged goodbye to all and
thanked them for all the gestures and activities they arranged for
them.
We came back to the centre again around the lunch time. Firstly,
children had a mat time before having lunch and this time the mat
time consisted of a focus on sharing experiences at the fairways visit.
Children were asked if they would like to come in front and share
their best moments of the day. Natalie also asked me to share my
first experiences. I shared with children about some life stories that
resident shared me, so they can learn from it the way I did. I learnt
the importance of fairways visit and how they can be such rewarding
learning and bonding experience for everyone. I completely support
this idea and believe that it gives a great opportunity to young
learners to learn from their life long experiences.
