Child: August

Setting and context: Sand play Date:

This afternoon I noticed August observing two
other children driving trucks around the garden. I
approached him and asked “ August , do you
need help to find a truck? He looked at me and
we hold hands while walking towards the sandpit.
Getting there, August grabbed a truck, he
attempted to pushed it forwards few times with
difficulty, so I suggested that we could attach a
string. He sat next to me while I was trying it.
August then happily pushed the truck in the
walking path moving forwards and backwards.
Outcome 4- Children are confident and involved
learners.
Element4.2 Children develop a range of skills and
processes such as problem solving, Inquiry,
Experimentation, Hypothesizing, Researching and
Investigating.
Outcome 5: Children are effective
communicators.
Element- 5.1- Children interact verbally and non-
verbally with others range of purposes.

Analysis:
It is evident that August confidently explores and engages in physical and social activities. He is
expressing wonder and interest in the environment. He is using play to investigate. He manipulates
objects to experiment concepts of cause and effect, trial and error and motion. He has demonstrated
great fine and gross motor skills as he was able to pull the truck from rocky bumpy road.

Planning Direction
I will keep supporting Isaiah’s interaction by following his interests, providing suitable tools to
improve his skills.
