TECHNICAL NOTES FOR PIPES

1. Chemical composition, physical properties, tests, dimensions, tolerances, hydrostatic


tests and marking shall conform to the relevant pipe specification.

2. Steel made by acid bessemer process shall not be acceptable.

3. Tests reports shall be supplied for all mandatory tests including tensile & hardness test
as per the material specifications.

4. For pipes under IBR sulphur and phosphorous content shall be maximum 0.05% each
and carbon content shall not exceed 0.22%.

5. Pipes coming under IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations) shall be accompanied with IBR
certificates in form IIIA, duly approved and counter-signed by IBR authority/local authority
empowered by central boiler board of India.

6. Pipes shall be supplied in random lengths of 6 to 8 meters, beveled ends shall conform to
ANSI B 16,25.

7. The inspection of all non IBR pipes shall be carried out by GNFC inspector/third party.

8. All pipes shall be stamped giving material specifications, size, inspection marking and
schedule thickness with weatherproof paint at intervals of 3of3 meters.

9. All the pipes shall bear clearly visible heat mark painted around and which should tally
with the certificates.
10. Four copies of test certificates duly certified by inspector shall be submitted along with
the materials delivered, since otherwise the delivered materials will not be accepted.

11. For all LTCS pipes impact test certificates shall be supplied.
TECHNICAL NOTES FOR BUTT & SOCKETS WELD FITTINGS

1. Chemical composition, physical properties, tests, dimensions and tolerances, heat


treatment and marking shall conform to the applicable code standard/specifications.

2. The test reports, shall be supplied for all mandatory test including tensile & hardness
tests as per the material specifications.

3. Fittings under the purview of IBR (Indian boiler regulations) shall be accompanied with
IBR certificate in from IIIC duly approved and counter signed by IBR authority/local
authority empowered by central boiler board of India and shall be painted in red strip.

4. Maximum carbon content in the fittings under IBR shall not exceed 0.22% and sulphur
and phosphorous shall not exceed 0.05% each.

5. All fittings shall be seamless in construction unless otherwise specified.

6. Fittings made from block forging and machined to required dimensioned are not
acceptable.

7. Inspection of all fittings shall be carried out by GNFC/Third party.

8. End finish shall be according ANSI B-16,25 unless otherwise specified.

9. Marking shall be according to requirements of the applicable ASTM or API specification


and additionally with purchaser’s order no. and item no. and x-ray film no. for
radiographed materials by stamping.

10. Four copies of test certificates of material and manufacturer shall be submitted along with
the material delivered material will not be accepted.

11. Any deviation from these specifications should be separately highlighted in the quotation
it self.

12. Bore for socket weld fittings shall be suitable for pipe O,D, and thickness as specified.
TECHNICAL NOTES FOR FLANGES & STUB FNDS

1. Chemical composition, physical properties, tests heat treatment, dimens. and tolerances
shall conform to specified code/standard and specifications.

2. Test reports shall be supplied for all mandatory test as per the material specifications.

3. Smooth finish were specified shall be of 125 to 200 micro inch AARH
.
4. Marking of each flange & stub ends shall be as per MSS-SP-25 unless otherwise
specified.

5. Inspection of all flanges & stub ends shall be carried out by GNFC/Third party.

6. Four copies of test certificates duly certified by inspector shall be submitted along with
the material delivered, since, otherwise delivered materials will not be accepted.
TECHNICAL NOTES FOR BOLTING

1. The material, heat treatment, threading, testing, marking etc. shall be in accordance with
applicable ASTM specifications.

2. The nuts shall be double chamfered.

3. The manufacturer shall supply test reports for all mandatory tests including tensile &
hardness as pr relevant material specification.

4. Inspection shall be carried out by GNFC before despatch.

5. Each size of stud/bolts with, nuts shall be supplied in separate bags and shall bear with
size and material specifications.

6. Four copies of test certificates duly certified by inspector shall be submitted along with
the material delivered, since, otherwise delivered materials will not be accepted.

7. Any deviations from GNFC specifications shall be high lighted in the offer.
TECHNICAL NOTES FOR GASKETS

1. All gaskets shall be supplied strictly as per the dimensions and standards specified in the
requisition.

2. CAF gaskets shall have test reports for all mandatory test as per IS:2712/BS:1832 as per
other standards specified in the requisition.

3. Manufacturer’s test certificate for filler material and spiral material shall be given as per
the material standard for spiral wound gasket.

4. Asbestos filler for spiral wound gasket shall not have any colour or dye.

5. All gaskets shall be inspected and approved by GNFC inspector/Third party before
despatch.

6. Each size of gaskets shall be supplied in bundles labeled with size, rating and material
specification.

7. Edges of cut gaskets shall be smooth and uniform.


TECHNICAL NOTES FOR RING JOINT GASKET

1. Material, dimensions, tolerances and finish shall conform to ANSI B 16.20.

2. Reference list for ring joint gaskets supplied to fertilizer/petrochemical industries to be


furnished by the supplier.

3. Rings for ring joint connections shall not have more then 0.025% sulphur.

4. Max. hardness shall be 145 BHN. For 304L ring material.

5. Tolerances shall be established for both grooves & gaskets.

6. The outer surface of each ring joint gasket shall carry the manufacturer’s trade mark,
gasket no. prefixed by the letter ‘R’ or ‘RX’ and followed by the material identification.

7. Test reports for all mandatory tests including tensile and hardness shall be supplied as
per the material specification in triplicate.

8. Inspection of all gaskets shall be carried out by GNFC.

9. Any deviation to our specifications shall be separately indicated in offer.


TECHNICAL NOTES FOR FLANGES

2. Test reports shall be supplied for all mandatory tests as per the material specifications.

3. Flanges coming under IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations) shall be accompanied with IBR

empowered by central boiler board of India.

and phosphorous and sulphur shall not exceed 0.05% each.

GENERAL TECHNICAL NOTES FOR VALVES

1. The manufacturing testing, inspection and certification shall be as per relevant standards
specified in specification sheets.

2. Three sets of detailed drawing of valves and catalogue shall be furnished by


manufacturer along with the offer.

3. Where flanged connections have been specified, the flange dimensions shall be in
accordance with ANSI B 16.5 unless otherwise specified.

4. All valves shall be free of nonferrous metals.

5. The outside and inside surfaces of all valves must be properly trimmed and deburred.

6. Valve shall be inspected by third party/GNFC inspector.

7. Each valve to be marked with nominal diameter, nominal pressure, material flow
direction, manufacturer’s mark, tag no., inspector’s mark ETC.

8. The manufacturer shall furnish four copies of test certificates duly certified by inspector
along with the material delivered since otherwise delivered material will not be accepted.

9. Party shall submit recommended list of spares for 2 years maintenance and item wise
offer for the same.

10. Vendor shall guarantee the satisfactory workmanship and operation of the valves for the
period of 24 months from the date of despatch & 12 months from date of commissioning
whichever is earlier.

11. Ends of each valve shall be plugged with plastic caps before despatch.

12. Each valve shall be individually packed in proper way so that any damage during
transportation is avoided.

13. Any deviations from GNFC specifications shall be highlighted in the offer.

14. Valves coming under IBR, shall be accompanied with IBR certificate in form III-A, duly
approved and countersigned by IBR authority/local authority empowered by central board
of India.

15. In case of IBR valves, carbon content in the valve body not to exceed 0.25% maximum
and shall be approved by GNFC/Third party inspection.

16. Individual casting shall be radiographed to meet level-3 of categories A,B and C as per
ASTM std. E446/E186. The remaining categories D,E and F are unacceptable casting
shall meet the requirement of spec. MSS-SP-55 with regard to surface appearance and
workmanship (This is required only for LTCS and SS cast steel valves)

Note : Vendor shall confirm all above mentioned technical notes as well as categorically
confirm all technical specs, mentioned in attached spec. sheets since otherwise offer will not
be accepted.
TECHNICAL NOTES FOR PLATES

1. Chemical composition, physical properties, tests, dimensions, tolerances,


hydrostatic tests and marking shall conform to the relevant pipe
specification.

2 Steel made by acid besmear process shall not be acceptable.

3 Tests reports shall be supplied for all mandatory tests including tensile &
hardness test as per the material specifications.

4 All stainless steel plates shall be hot rolled, solution heat treated &
quenched. The surface must be pickled & have no. 1 finish.

Notes:

1. Vendor shall categorically confirm all points and deviation if any shall
be clearly highlighted.
Annexure – A

TECHNICAL NOTES FOR PLUG VALVES

1 The manufacturing, testing, inspection and certification shall be as per


relevant standards.

2. Three sets of detailed drawing of valves and catalogue shall be furnished


by manufacturer along with the offer.

3. Where flanged connections have been specified, the flange dimensions


shall be in accordance with ANSI B 16.5 unless otherwise specified.

4. All valves shall be free of nonferrous metals.

5. The outside and inside surfaces of all valves must be properly trimmed
and deburred.

6. Stagewise inspection of valves shall be carried out by 3 rd party inspector,


as per following stages:

a) Pouring for castings.


b) After solution annealing, % ferrite check and complete microstructure
analysis will be done on test coupon identified by 3 rd party inspector.
Tests shall be carried out at M/s. BHEL or other reputed laboratory and
same shall be witnessed by 3rd party. After heat treatment, ferrite in
CF8 castings shall not be more than 10%.
c) Foundry will submit a test certificate for chemical and mechanical
properties. Castings dimensions will be varified by M/s. Xomox
representative at foundry.
d) Radiography will be carried out for 10% of the total qty. for every size
of body & plug.
e) Final inspection of hydrotest, pneumatic seat test and over all
dimensions of the valves will be witnessed by 3 rd party inspector and
shall be stamped before dispatch.

7. Castings for body upto 1 1/2” NB and plugs upto 3” NB shall be


manufactured by investment casting only. Castings for body above 1 1/2”
NB and plugs above 3” NB may be manufactured by special process sand
casting process.

8. Face to face dimensions of all shall be as per ANSI B16.10. GA drawings


of valves shall be submitted in 4 sets.

9. Following are approved foundries for investment castings:


a) M/s. Intricast Pvt. Ltd. – Rajkot.
b) M/s. Creative castings. – Junagadh.
c) M/s. Unideritend precision castings. - Thane.

Following are approved foundries for special process – sand castings:


a) M/s. Secals Ltd. – Ranipet.
b) M/s. SRI Ranganathar Industries – Coimbatore.

10. All metallic parts including valve handle, hub, screw etc. shall be of SS304
only.

11. All valves shall be inspected as per attached QA plan.(Annexure-B)

12. Each valve to be marked with nominal diameter, nominal pressure,


material flow direction, manufacturer’s mark, tag no., inspector’s mark etc.

13. Party shall submit recommended list of spares for 2 years maintenance
and item wise offer for the same. Interchangeability chart for spares will be
submitted.

14. Vendor shall guarantee the satisfactory workmanship and operation of the
valves for the period of 24 months from the date of dispatch & 12 months
from date of commissioning whichever is earlier.

15. Ends of each valve shall be plugged with plastic caps before dispatch.

16. Each valve shall be individually packed in proper way so that any damage
during transportation is avoided.

17. Any deviations from GNFC specifications shall be highlighted in the offer.

Note: Vendor shall categorically confirm all above mentioned technical notes,
