PREFACE

Through this paper we aim at the discussing the capstone project. The paper discusses

the topic using various methods and technologies. The paper consists of four chapters, each

explaining in detail about the topic and making the points authentic and valid. There is an

abstract, introduction, many bodies and a conclusion. Moreover, it is supported by a literature

review to be used as evidence.

Limitations

There are two main obstacles. First, the information regarding the health and wellness

resort was too hard to reach from experts in Saudi Arabia due to the lack of opportunity and

awareness of this field which helps to get an interview to easily utilize the needs of the health

and wellness resort. Second, the lack of same projects in the middle east

effect on the analysis of the precedent studies forcing to use the projects of foreign countries

to make the studies and analysis

CHAPTER ONE: SYNOPSIS OF FINAL STUDIO

Project Statement

Designing a retreat center is a place that can take you from your everyday routines,

each person has the opportunity to practice his\her work, exercise, hobbies and different type

of activities but in the way and mood they prefer. The retreat center will be located in Jeddah,

Saudi Arabia specific in Obhur area, the location will be aligned with 2030 vision because the

most important project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is located in the same area of the

retreat center which is Jeddah tower and it’s considered as the highest tower in the world.

There is several types of activities can be in the retreat center such as: Yoga/Meditation,

Cooking Classes, work place area, Music class’s and Physical activities: such as physical

therapy, gym and swimming pool.

Research Questions

How does the retreat resort impact the tourism in Jeddah and contribute to the tourism sector

of the kingdom in line with vision 2030?

Site Selection:

Silver Sand is considered as one of the most luxurious beaches in Jeddah due to many

reasons. First, it is located in a calm area and it’s a private beach however, there is no random

access to the beach and that will enhance the success of the retreat center. Second, it's

considered the cleanest sandy beach in Jeddah. Third, the space may help the retreat center to

add hospitality in the same place. As a vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 2030 the

retreat center will consider as the first health resort in Saudi Arabia and this will enhance

tourism to refresh their souls in a healthy way also will reduce the number of citizens to

travel to the foreign countries for relaxing and refreshing.

CHAPTER TWO: LITERATURE REVIEW

The literature review supports the project with several majors and minders studies, by

explain the specialized in interior design of my project such as: lighting, materials and some

major studies.

Major Study: Interior Design Specialized in Healthcare and Resorts

Lighting:

Skylights can totally change the vibe of a room. They don't simply allow in more

normal light; they likewise make a significantly more open sentiment of room. By adding

glass to a low roof, you can cause it to feel higher, seeing the sky through a high roof gives it

the fantasy of being essential for an outside space. A window over your bed permits you to

look at the stars or passing mists, and one over a lounge area could make them eat underneath

the trees. "Several examples including the lighting design in an indoor pool, are shown to

demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed method.” According to (Dobashi, Y., Kaneda,

K.1994, August).

Space Planning:

Considers the advantages of designating the right space to every one of a hotel′s

different capacity. Stresses the significance of suitable separation between, and admittance to,

inter‐related benefits; and dodging blockage while working relaxation and meeting offices.

Talks about vehicle leaving and records regular plan flaws in lodging arranging. (Lawson, F.

R. 1995).

18
Running Head: HEALTH AND WELLNESS RESORT

Colors:

Shading doesn't exist, all things considered. It is only the impact of electromagnetic

waves enrolled by our cerebrums and eyes. However, it assumes a significant job and we

basically can't envision existence without it. Shading makes emotions and states of mind and

it is attributable to these highlights that originators and property holders need to use it

carefully so as to make a fitting air in a given space. (Kim, D., Hyun, H., & Park, J.2020).

Materials:

Regular materials are consistently a decent decision. They're solid, naturally

benevolent, improve the microclimate of indoor spaces, and look sharp paying little mind to

inside plan and evolving styles. (Brown, R., & Farrelly, L.2012).

Minor Study: Retreat Center and Tourism

Retreat Centre:

The retreats resorts are uncommon and important scene for people, couples, families

and gatherings of companions to look for solid shelter from the relentless ways of life so

common in contemporary society. At these unwinding and enabling retreats, you can sustain

and renew bodies, brains and minds to achieve or recapture elevated levels of individual

wellbeing. Indeed, even individuals who use comprehensive wellbeing works on, grasping

unadulterated, regular or natural weight control plans and the utilization of natural prepping

and home upkeep items are presented to the microbes, germs, poisons and contamination that

attack a large portion of our day-by-day overall conditions. Hence, everybody can increase

much from the bunch advantages of keeping up an unadulterated, positive perspective and

lolling in the wonderful, tranquil encompasses of silver sands beach and the beautiful view of

the beach. (Cohen, J. N., Jensen, D 2017).

19
Running Head: HEALTH AND WELLNESS RESORT

Tourism Development:

Sea shore resorts develop from normal settings through the extension of convenience

and other recreational capacities. With more noteworthy size they lose their regular qualities

and become progressively urbanized. The progress from normal to metropolitan retreat is

regularly quick, with some sea shore resorts being changed into urban areas in under twenty

years. The huge quantities of worldwide and homegrown sightseers that continuous sea shore

resorts give monetary chances to governments, organizations and those looking for work.

Simultaneously, the elements of quick urbanization are much of the time joined by significant

changes in social, natural and political settings. That the advancement of contemporary sea

shore resorts presents both positive and negative impacts is known: nonetheless, the cycles of

development and synergism of its composite components have been less clear. (Smith, R.

A.1991).

Conclusion:

In conclusion the literature review helps us to analyze major and minor studies for my

project to develop the idea of the retreat resort and enhance the project to implement the

major studies smoothly and clearly. I believe literature review is an important process to get

the final resolute with perfect and complete ideas.

CHAPTER THREE: RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

The research methodology is discussed in the third chapter of the thesis. It is the way

toward gathering information and data related to the selected topic of the thesis from the

community. The mixed method is utilized in this thesis to gather the required information. It

is a kind of method that joins both quantitative method and qualitative method. The

quantitative method centers around numbers and amount which is finished by directing an

overview, while the qualitative method centers around quality and exactness, which includes

interviews with masters and generalists. Since Arabic as it is the community mother

language, the two methods' inquiries were made an interpretation of into Arabic to arrive at

the most extreme number of people in the community.

Qualitative:

The chosen method for the research is qualitative method. This method is commonly

utilized for getting views and perceptions. It offers visions to various issues and aides in

creating ideas or speculations for likely quantitative exploration. To gain an entire

understanding of the main demands for a retreat resort, a survey was conducted from the

22nd of October to the 26th of October. The responses were conducted via WhatsApp and

Twitter. The survey was conducted with one hundred and twelve participants. Qualitative

research method is explicitly intended to reveal an intended target audience’s behavior its

association with a specific topic or issue. It utilizes top to bottom examination of small group

of individuals for building hypotheses. The outcome of qualitative method are not prescient,

but rather descriptive.

Saudi Building Codes

Saudi Building Codes are a bunch of terms and prerequisites to follow while building

and development to accomplish the global construction laws that coordinate the nation's

conditions. As the proposal goes under the medical services offices, that part was taken from

https://www.sbc.gov.sa/ and the codes are in their original form cited without any editing.

Conclusion

Contribution

To conclude, designing a retreat resort will add significant incentive to the interior

design field. The concept of the resort is to enhance the tourism in Saudi Arabia especially

after the covid-19 pandemic to release all negative thoughts. The resort covers the full needs

of the individuals who suffer from anxiety and tension due to covid-19 pandemic and can

practice their activities. Additionally, aligned with the Kingdom's vision, the resort will

improve the personal satisfaction which will make Saudi Arabian cities urban areas rank

among the best urban areas on the planet.

Observation

It is concluded that this project has provided many things related to the interior

designs as well as it is also providing the most important information of every interior design

provided in this section. The most effective interior design which is described in this

document is the wall fountain which increases the beauty of the wall. On the other side,

ceiling lights are also very effective because it provides the premium look.

This project provided a lot of information and knowledge about the interior

designing as well as it also provides more effective information related to the project that

how they it can be effective in the real life designing and what kind of design will suit in the

specific buildings.

It is also concluded that people all over the world now wanted want to this type of

interior designs within their offices as well as big organizations. Due to its popularity as well

as the attractiveness, it is determined that people will effectively adopt and use this type of

designs in the future. Some people will also use this type of interior designs to effectively

decorate their homes.
