Should wealthy nations be required to share their wealth among

poorer nations by providing such things as food and education? Or

is it the responsibility of the governments of poorer nations to look
after their citizens themselves?

Underdeveloped countries are deficient in a variety of sectors, including

medical care, education, and living standards, (+ just) to name a few. However, the
solutions to fill the gap between the rich and the poor are still argued. While I
believe that prosperous countries should aid poorer ones, I also agree that
disadvantaged countries must stand on their own feet.
There is no doubt that rich countries should assist developing ones. First of
all, most of the problems existing in underdeveloped countries are global. For
instance, population growth is an international difficulty. It is because of excessive
procreation in most developing countries, especially in Asia and Africa.
Furthermore, foreign assistance might accelerate the development process. After
the civil war, the United States, for example, donated food to South Korea. As a
result, South Korea has grown from poverty to become one of Asia's most
industrialized countries.
Nevertheless, there is also a strong argument that developing countries have to
rely on themselves. First, the poor may lose their independence. In fact, if the
developed nations help the developing ones, the underdeveloped might be reliant
on the developed economies. As a consequence, it is difficult to ensure freedom
and sustainable development. Africa is a typical example. In the mid-nineteenth
century, this area was colonized by European capitalist countries and completely
depended on Western economies. Although these countries were eventually
liberated, they were unable to overcome poverty. Moreover, foreign assistance
makes the citizens of poorer ones lazier and more passive. Indeed, (+ once)
developing countries have received advanced achievements (help from others), so
(bỏ) they + might lack the motivation to develop + themselves.
In conclusion, I think underdeveloped nations should adjust between receiving
external aid and striving to improve internally. Thanks to that, they can develop
their economy.

It is true that the gap between rich countries and poor ones is becoming increasingly wide. Therefore,
how to help indigent nations to develop is an urgent mission nowadays. However, the solution to this
problem is still debatable.

Some people believe that wealthy nations need to help poorer ones. Firstly, foreign assistance in the
form of technology transfer, low/no-interest loans, or education, for example, can accelerate the
development process of poor countries. This can be seen clearly in Vietnam. This country has had a fast
economic growth rate since the open door policy in 1986 when it started receiving support from many
developed nations, namely England, the United States, and Japan. Secondly, most of the problems
existing in underdeveloped countries such as diseases and pollution are global issues. Without aids from
wealthy ones, these can not be solved because they require great investment and research.

However, it is also argued that the governments of poor countries have to be accountable for their
development. Depending too much on rich countries may result in laziness and dependence, which are
harmful. Only when poor countries know how to stand on their own feet can they have a sustainable
development. Moreover, if the governments are aware of their responsibilities and try to act right for
the sake of their citizens, they will have suitable policies to bring their countries to success. Japanese
government is a typical example. The authority led this country to become of one the most powerful in
the world after the second World War despite many obstacles.

In conclusion, I think that a poor country needs not only support from the outside but also their inner
strengths to have long-lasting achievements to gain a better life for their citizens.
