English Learning Students vs. Bilingual Children ----------- To learn English, we need words, Most English native speakers know between 12,000 and 20,000 words. Shakespeare used 31,534 words. If you know 95% of the words in a story, you can understand it. The key is 95%. Knowing 95% of the words means this: the story is not too easy and not too hard. It is just right. Being bilingual means being able to communicate almost perfectly in two languages and also knowing something about both cultures.
