NOTE: This is not a letter of reference and will not be distributed by the WERKLUND SCHOOL OF EDUCATION to potential employers,
however potential employers may ask for this assessment from the student directly.

The purpose of this eight-week field experience is to focus on their ability to extend and deepen their understanding classroom
learning as they move towards meeting the requirements of interim certification. Upon successful completion of this Field
Experience, Student Teachers are prepared to assume the full pedagogical and professional responsibilities of a practicing teacher.
Under the guidance of a Partner Teacher, the Student Teacher has planned and assumed responsibility for 80%-100% of
classroom teaching responsibilities in his/her placement classroom. The following Narrative Assessment should address the
Student Teacher’s participation in the course as a whole as well as their growth and readiness in relation to the TQS outcomes.
Finally, an assessment of the Student Teacher’s readiness to take on the role of teacher, including evidence of professionalism and
collegiality, should be described.

Breanne’s Field Experience IV placement was at the National Sport School where she primarily taught Chemistry 30 and Biology
30. Breanne created an excellent rapport with her partner teacher throughout her practicum experience. She made every effort to
become part of the staff at the National Sport School. Breanne took the initiative to make her self available outside of class time for
students requiring additional support and guidance which was greatly appreciated by students who are missing extensive class time
due to training schedule’s. She also volunteered on the Graduation Committee.

In Breanne’s classes all students are treated with respect. She has been able to differentiate her teaching in such a way that she
has developed excellent classroom management techniques. A great area of strength for Breanne is the rapport she builds with her
students. Her attitude is always positive and she has a wonderful influence on the classroom environment. She has a good sense
of humor and she uses it appropriately. It was clear that she has a strong desire to work with and teach young people.

Breanne engages all her students in the lesson being taught. She has developed effective short and long-term assessments that
enable her to monitor student learning so that her teaching can be adjusted if needed. Breanne’s knowledge of the subject area
was exceptional in the way she could take difficult concepts and make them very understandable for her students. She
demonstrated excellent planning and preparation for her students that included several hands-on laboratory activities, interactive
note-taking booklets, and engaging review games like Kahoot.

Breanne is innovative in her use of technology in the classroom to help students better understand the curriculum content as well as
help the students with different learning styles achieve their full potential. She is also creative in the resources she uses in her
lesson plans. She has developed engaging power point presentations that effectively deliver content using videos, pictures, and
games that enhance her lessons.

Breanne is well prepared to assume the role and responsibilities of a teacher. Her creative energy, intelligence, passion for the
work and genuine sense of connection with others will make her a valuable member of our profession. Breanne will be an asset to
the jurisdiction that employs her. She is the kind of teacher I would have wanted on my staff or for my own children.
