DESIGN CONCEPT:

THE DESIGN CONCEPT IS THE CULTURE OF MANGYAN TRIBE WHICH IS SHOWN IN THEIR HANDICRAFTS.
WOVEN BASKETS AND TEXTILES OF THREE DIFFERENT GROUPS OF MANGYAN TRIBES WERE USED. THE
SIMILARITIES BETWEEN THESE GROUPS ARE SHOWN THROUGH WEAVING AND THE SYMBOL OF
“PAKUDOS” WHICH REPRESENT ALL MANGYANS. AND THEIR DISTINCT CHARACTERISTICS WERE SHOWN
THROUGH THE PATTERNS AND COLORS EMBEDDED ON THEIR WOVEN HANDICRAFT.

DESIGN RATIONALE:

THE MAIN DESIGN ELEMENT OF THE HOTEL IS THE HANDICRAFTS OF EACH OF THE THREE GROUPS OF
MANGYAN TRIBE. FURNITURE WERE CUSTOMIZED TO

FROM THE LOBBY, IT WILL SHOWCASE THE HARMONY BETWEEN THESE THREE GROUPS. WOVEN
BASKET, TEXTILES, AND PAKUDOS WERE USED TO SHOW IT.

THE LOBBY, LOUNGE, AND RECEPTION WILL BE THE ONE TO RECEIVE THE GUESTS. THESE AREAS WILL
PROUDLY EXHIBIT THE HANDICRAFTS OF MANGYAN THROUGH WOVEN BASKETS, TEXTILES, AND
CUSTOMIZED FURNITURE. A SYMBOL WHICH REPRESENTS MANGYAN TRIBE IS ALSO PRESENT. AND A
STATUE OF A MANGYAN AND TAMARAW IS TO BE SEEN WHICH WILL EMPHASIZE MANGYAN AND
MINDORO.

THE ROOM’S DESIGN OR INTERIOR IS BASED ON TAU-BUID MANGYAN. PATTERNS AND SYMBOLS OF
THEIR WOVEN WORK WAS PLACED ON WALL DECORATIONS. WOVEN BASKETS WERE ALSO TURNED
INTO LAMP SHADES AND CHANDELIER,COLORS WERE PICKED FROM THE CRAFTS AND GOLD COLOR
WERE USED ON METAL HARDWARES TO COMPLETE THE SETUP.

THE RESTO’S DESIGN IS BASED ON THE COLLECTIVE CRAFTS AND ART OF THE THREE GROUPS OF
MANGYAN. JUST LIKE THE OTHER AREAS, CUSTOMIZED FURNITURE LIKE WALL LAMPS, CHANDELIER,
SUN SHADING ELEMENT, AND SOFA WERE USED AND COLOR SCHEMES WERE PICKED FROM THE
CRAFTS. THE STRUCTURE OF THE RESTO IS DERIVED FROM A MANGYAN TRADITIONAL HOUSE WHICH IS
CONSTRUCTED IN A MODERN WAY TO PROLONG ITS LIFE AND IMPROVE ITS EFFICIENCY.
