ACTIVITY # 3(FINAL TERM)

Apply linear regression to a real-life situation.

Find the regression model and raise up questions wherein y is dependent of x, and x is dependent of y.

Adamson University store must purchase books two months earlier the beginning of each semester.
Considering that the number of books that will eventually be sold for any specific course is connected to
the number of students registered for the course when the books are ordered. To determine the
number of books to order, creating a linear regression equation will be a big help.

Given n = 12, x = number of students and y = books sold.

Questions:

1. Find a scatter plot of the number of books sold versus the number of registered students.
2. What is the total number of enrolled students in the whole semesters?
3. Give total number of ordered books.
4. Give the regression equation.
Solution:

1) Scatter plot of the number of books sold versus the number of registered students.

2) There are 397 students enrolled in 12 semesters.

3) There are 408 total number of books.
4) Give regression equation.

b= b = 0.92
a = 9.56
a=

The regression equation is Y= 9.56 + 0.92X
