This is my report about the 5 Ps of Crisis Management, Accepting the reality that crisis will occur and
rejecting the repeated ‘’ well handle it when it happens” or “ there’s nothing we can do now since we
don’t know enough “ in the critical. First step in contructing a durable strategic crisis preparation and
response protocol. Crisis is so critical event or paint of decision that if not handled in an appropriate and
timely manner, can turn into catastrophe with the potential to harm people or property. We have these
5Ps of crisis management, a. Predict attempts to remove uncertainty from the future, the predict
component is undertaken through strategic, operational and tactical awareness, processes. Strategic is
producing foresight and conveying strategic warnings. It scan the environment identifying weak signals,
drivers, inhibitors, threats, hazards risks, opportunities and vulnerabilities among others. B. Prevent a
deliberate action aimed at avoiding future harm by addressing its cause it is closely related to mitigation
which accepts that a potentially harmful incident cannot be prevented but harmful consequences arising
from it can be minimized by precautionary measure , preventive measure prevention capability is
essentially physical security. For man made incidents it requires vigilance and alertness to signs and
manifestation of suspicious looking individuals, warning and alert systems have to be established to
alert the population to minimize the casualties and damage of life. C. Prepare- essential for effective
response, it covers six essential activities, plan , organize , train , euip, , exercise and evaluate and
improve. Simulation and tabletop exercise the effectiveness of preparation bring out flaws and
weaknesses and enable corrections and remedies to be effected to heighten level of readiness of
system, procedure organization, equipment and logistic to better cope with actual crisis, and next is D.
Perform the actual implementation of contingency plans when a crisis occurs, despite the pro-active
measure undertaken, once a crisis occurs, priorities shit from building or enhancing capabilities to
employing resources to save lives, protect property and environment and preserve the social, economic
and political structure of the jurisdiction, and the last we have Post – action and assessment a
component which begins when the crisis has been addressed and the organization is returning to
business as usual. Post action activity seek ways to evaluate and improve prevention, preparation and
the actual execution. There for the importance of this 5Ps is very useful in times or during the crisis
management , the proper execution of plan and proper training for personnel in order to measure the
level of their preparedness in the actual scenario, by this it can save a lot of life and proper designation
of valuable information to the public. The public also may aware of what they can do in times of crisis.
