HCMC, LONG AN COOPERATED TO SUCCESSFUL POLLUTION

7.On June 8, the Standing Committee of the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City
and Long An province combined supervision of the environment in the border
areas between the two localities. Mr. Nguyen Minh Hoang - Head of the Economic
and Budget Department of the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City says: in the
development process, localities need to join hands to solve the inter-regional
problem about environment as well as each locality must strictly control and
thoroughly deal with pollution.
 On June 8th, the Standing Committee of the municipal's People's Council and Long An province
have combined their supervision of the environment at their borderlands. Mr. Nguyen Minh Hoang -
Head of the city's Economy and Budget Department - said, "In our development, we should join
hands/work together to solve the inter-regional environment issues as well as each should strictly
control and solve that issue/problem thoroughly."

8. The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and Nobel Peace Prize-
winning environmental activist Wangari Maathai have issued a call for people
around the world to plant 1 billion trees next year to fight global warming.
According to scientists, the destruction of trees by wildfires emits about 370
million tons of greenhouse gas wastes each year, contributing to global warming.
Planting trees can help improve this situation because they absorb CO2.
 The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and an environmental activist - a
Noble Peace Prize winner - Wangari Maathai have already called for people all over the
world to plant 1 billion trees next year to combat/fight against the global warming.

Scientists said that 370 million tons of gas wastes have been already released by the
forest fire, causing the greenhouse effect annually, making global warming./ Scientists
