Though the process of ‘seeing is completed through our eyes generally,
there is another organ in our body which is sometimes used for seeing.
This is the eye of our mind. One can perceive anything through the feeling
of mind if he has the ability. However, Ruskin Bond foucuses on human
percption in the present story The Eyes Have It. incidentally bothe the-
characters: — the narrator and the other co-passenger, a young girl are
sightless in this story. But the narrator draws a picture of the girl through
the eye of his mind despite being unable to see. On the basis of his
perception he considers the girl pretty. Similarly the girl, too, portrays the
narrator as gallant and serious through her perception. in this way, the
author shows that human perception can also perform the act of ‘seeing’.SO NB OTIS
Ruskin Bond’s The Eyes Have it is a very beautiful story on human
Perception. However, the narrator who was totally blind narrated ‘the
entire story tactfully without revealing much about himself. The two majo,
characters, the narrator himself and the young girl, mét each other during
their journey by train towards Dehra. The narrator was very eager to know _
about the girl and to appreciate her beauty as well. But the Narrato,
disclosed very little about himself. Except for his destination to Dehra ang
then to Mussoorie and that he was blind at that time, he provided to i
information about himself. Again when the girl asked the narrator about |
his being too serious, the narrator changed the topic. The Narrator |
actually expressed some of his inner thoughts without revealing much
about himself for keeping the readers in the shadow of mystery. |
