DIABETES

MELLITUS
is a disorder in which blood sugar (glucose)
levels are abnormally high because the body
does not produce enough insulin to meet its
needs.

CAUSES AND EFFECT
Different causes are associated with each type of
diabetes
Type 1 diabetes - caused by genetic factor and
environmental factor. Type 2 diabetes - Genetic factor
that runs in the family.

2 RISK FACTORS
IEnvironmental factors. Circumstances such as exposure to a
viral illness likely play some role in
type 1 diabetes.
Family history. Your risk increases if a parent or sibling has
type 1 diabetes.

DOH OBSERVANCE

Acoording to DOH, Diabetes is the 6th leading cause of death


among Filipinos based on the data from the
2013 Philippine Health Statistics, and over 6 million Filipinos are
diagnosed to have
diabetes, as declared by the Philippine Center for Diabetes Education
Foundation in 2016.

4 MORTALITY AND MORBIDITY

According to WHO data published 2018 DM Death in the Philippines
reached 25, 528 or 4.19% of total deaths. The age adjusted Death
Rate is 38.17 per 100,000 out of population ranks in the Philippines.
