He spoke movingly about the condition of women in rural India and said, “Presently, our mothers and sisters are forced ‘0 defecate in the open. Do we lke this situation? Is it not our responsibility to arrange for tolletsat least?” Today, as we celebrate the 3* anniversary of the Government, 1am proud to share that the individual household toilet coverage in rural India under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) has now increased to nearly 64% fram 42% in 2014. We are also well on our way to achieving the target of an Open Defecation Free India by October 2, 2019. Over 1.95 lakh villages, 137 districts and 3 states in the country have already declared themselves as Open Defecation Free. Significant progress has also been made under NRDW?.
