The 5 step sales process

Bata follows the 5 step sales process. This process is a simple, linear approach to selling. So, the process
begins with

1. Approaching the client: This process varies from one type of sale to another. So, Bata approaches
the client first and uses the opportunity to create a good impression first. Bata looks for
opportunities to connect with the customers and maintain a good relation with them. The
salespersons at Bata are positive and start a genuine conversation with the customer. The
salesperson should be quite approachable.

2. Discovering client needs: The salesperson should be efficient at discovering the needs of the
client. The salesperson should encourage a conversation with the customer and should try to get
the customer to talk and motivate them to clearly and openly discuss the problems they face and
what are they looking in a certain product. The salesperson should ask follow-up and should start
suggesting products according to their needs.

3. Provide a solution: Now that the salesperson is aware of the problems of the client, he/ she can
introduce a solution for the problem. In this step, the salesperson suggests a product keeping the
needs of the customer in mind. The salesperson should be quite clear and apt while suggesting
products and should refrain from being ambiguous.

4. Close the Sale: The salesperson should make the sale in this step. He/ she should ask for their
order and if everything goes well, they will commit and leave the conversation mutually happy.
The client might raise objections regarding the price, and the salesperson should keep the needs
of the customer and then answer accordingly to their objections. By the end of this step, the
salesperson has successfully closed the sale.

5. Close the sale and follow up: After closing the sale, Bata follows up with their customers and
ensures that the product is sent to the customer. Bata keeps ensuring that the customers are happy
with their product and the service. Although this is the last step of a sale, this opens the door to
future opportunities with the customer.
