COMMITTEES OF CORRESPONDANCE :Virginia established this

to make possible continuous cooperation among the colonies


A. First Continental Congress:
1774 first continental congress was established
Delegates from all the colonies except Georgia were present
The 1st continental congress made 5 major decision :
1.Rejected plan for a colonial union under British authority,
2.moderate statement of grievances ,king as a most Gracious
Sovereign ,repeal of all oppressive legislation
3.military preparation be made for defense against possible
attack by British Troops
4.Bycott of British Goods (Continental Association )
5.meet again in spring
British effort to conciliate :CONCILIATORY PROPOSITION
COLONIES would tax themselves at Parliament’s demand
This was to influence the American Moderates
But it proves too little and to late

C.THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE:A definite move for
independence came from Virginia ,when Henry Lee moved a
resolution for independence on June 7,1776 .
But it was postponed till the drafting of Resolution by Jefferson
Franklin and Adams made some changes and presented the
resolution to the congress on June 28,1776
1 July congress sat to discuss the resolution
2nd July took the final vote
on 4th July the amended resolution was approved

All relations with Britain has been resolved
D.Treaty of Paris 1783:
Terms of treaty were agreed at Paris on Nov30,1782
Final treaty signed on sep 3,1783
1.Recognition of American independence by Britain
2.Fixation of American Boundaries
3.Navigation of Mississippi both ,Americans were to have
fishing right on New Found land and Canadian shore
4.Florida returned to Spain and GB got back Gibraltar in Europe
5.Loyalists not to be Persecuted
6.Debts should be paid
