Key finger positions
These patterns are used to play the major
scale in any of the 12 major keys. The root
notes in each pattern relate to the chosen key
signature. Note how the five patterns from 1
to 5 interlock with one another for positional
playing throughout the neck. Pattern 5 links
POSITION 1 - Root note is E key signature is E Major POSITION 3 - Root note is E POSITION 5 - Root is E with pattern 1 to continue the chain.

FIRST POSITION PATTERN - Root note is F key signature is F Major SECOND POSITION PATTERN - Root note is D key signature is D Major

FIFTH POSITION PATTERN - Root note is G key signature is G Major

Practice makes perfect
Scales are played across the neck position and note the slight change in
