1. Why did you choose to study Medical Technology/MLS course?

Since young, my favorite subject has always been science. It was fascinating to
learn about the beauty of everything including those we cannot see with our
naked eyes. This leads me in becoming interested to do some “science thing”
inside a lab. I begin to imagine myself wearing lab gown and using microscope to
examine specimen and discover new things. As I grow up, my love for these
things did not diminish a little but in fact it grew stronger. I learnt that medical
technologists do not only work inside the lab to test specimen but also to save
lives. And that was the reason why I choose to study Medical Technology or MLS
course. The laboratory was a hidden place inside a hospital or clinic but a place
where saving many lives where happening. Another reason was because my
family wanted me to become a Registered Medical Technologist and serve the
community honestly. I just think that I am lucky because what I want and what my
family want me to be happened to be same.

2. What inspires you in choosing this path?

My family inspires me to choose this path and to continue pursuing my goals.

They are my inspiration to work harder despite facing difficulties during online
classes because of this pandemic. Being raised by a solo parent, which is my
mom, I learnt to be more responsible and to become a good sister to my two
younger siblings. My mom would support me in everything I want to do and
believes that I could be what I want in the future. As for my siblings, I was raised
to be the “ate” that they would look up to as their role model. So no matter how
difficult this road will be, I will always think that my family are waiting for me to be
successful and that they are always at my back no matter what happens. Korean
dramas also inspired me to choose this path. Watching them wearing lab gowns
and doing lab tests made me realize that I also want to spend my work like what
they are doing.

3. Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

In 10 years, I hope that I am already a registered medical technologist at that

time. I can see myself working in a big hospital spending my days enjoying my
work with my colleagues. Working with my dream career, having enough salary
to enjoy life, buy my own house and driving my own car. I can see myself giving
the best life for my mom and siblings. Taking them to new places where we can
spend our time together watching the stars at night. Just waking up together,
eating together, taking vacation somewhere together and enjoying each other’s
company. 10 years from now, I hope to become a person who have no regrets in
her choices in life. As of now, I am currently doing my best to graduate and make
this “10 years from now” happen.
