Phone Cord Wrap You can remove the base plate and wrap any extra phone cord to get it out of the way; then replace the base plate.Watt Mount INSTALLATION The Speakerphone can be mounted on a wall phone plate (not included). Remove the Base Plate from the back by pressing down on the snap tabs located at the top, and then lifting it off. | Plug the phone cord into the phone jack on the back of the unit, wrap the extra line cord around the brackets on the bottom of the base, and then thread it through the bottom of the base plate. Reverse the direction of the Base Plate and replace it by putting the tabs into the slots on the top of the unit first, and then snapping the bottom tabs into place. Connect the phone cord to the modular jack on the wall. Slip the mounting holes over the wall plate posts and slide the unit down firmly into place.‘Watt Mount INSTALLATION CONTINUED Set the PULSE/TONE Set the RINGER VOLUME switch to TONE if you use switch as desired. Touch-Tone service; set it to PULSE if you have rotary service. Plug the handset cord into the handset and into the unit, and then hang up the phone. USING THE SPEAKERPHONE SPEAKERPHONE LOCATION For best speakerphone performance, avoid the following: ; + Areas with high background noise. (The microphone might pick” up these sounds and prevent the speakerphone from going into- the receiving mode when you finish talking.) + Surfaces affected by vibration. * Recessed areas such as in a corner, under a cupboard, or next to a cabinet, which can generate an echo effect. :SPEAKERPHONE USE Note the following guidelines when using the speakerphone: * The speakerphone works similar to a two-way radio in that you can only listen or talk at one time. * Stay reasonably close to the phone so that you can be clearly heard by the person to whom you are talking. * You can adjust the speaker volume by sliding the VOLUME control on the right side of the base unit. * The speakerphone indicator light comes on when the speakerphone is in use. Makinc A CALL 1 Press the SPEAKER button instead of picking up the handset. 2 Adjust volume if needed. 3 Make your call. 4 Press SPEAKER again to hang up the phone. RECEIVING A CALL Make sure that the RINGER switch is set to Hl or LOW or the phone will not ring. 1 Press the SPEAKER button instead of picking up the handset when the phone rings. 2 Adjust volume if needed. 3 Press SPEAKER again to hang up the phone. SwITCHING BETWEEN SPEAKER AND HANDSET You can switch between speakerphone and handset while the phone is dialing a number, or anytime during a conversation. * Speaker to Handset — Pick up the handset. + Handset to Speaker — Press SPEAKER, then hang up handset. TIP: If you're using the speakerphone in a noisy environment and are in listening mode, you can improve the listening perfor- mance by pressing MUTE. Just be sure to press MUTE again before you try to speak.USING THE FEATURES VOLUME CONTROLS Control the volume of both the handset and the speakerphone: + Use the VOLUME control to adjust speakerphone volume. + Use the RECEIVER volume control to adjust the handset volume. TEMPORARY TONE FEATURE lf you have Pulse (rotary) service, and want to access customer calling services that require Tone dialing, such as getting informa- tion from a local bank, you can use this feature. 1 Press the TONE button { * ) after you have connected to the service to enable Tone dialing. 2 When you hang up, the phone automatically returns to Pulse dialing mode. MUTE Butron The MUTE button deactivates the microphone for both the speakerphone and the handset, so that anything you say cannot be heard by the caller on the other end of the line. * Press MUTE to mute the microphone (the indicator light turns on). + Press MUTE again to continue the phone conversation (the indicator light turns off). FLASH Burton Press the FLASH button instead of using the hook switch to activate customer calling services such as call waiting or call transfer, which are provided by your local phone company. i i t ‘ iREDIAL ButTron Redial the last number you called by pressing the REDIAL button after you get a dial tone. NOTE: The Redial feature holds in memory the last phone number you dialed (as many as 32 digits). If you pressed any numbers after dialing the phone number, (for example, when accessing a voice-menu system) those numbers also are redialed. HOLD Butron Use the HOLD button to interrupt a phone conversation without hanging up, and then pick up the conversation again on the same phone or any extension. Memory DIALING Store as many as 12 numbers in memory for easy dialing. Three can be stored in the Emergency Quick Dial locations, and nine additional numbers can be stored in the numbered keys (1-9).Storinc 4 NUMBER IN MEMORY (or pick up the handset). 2 Press STORE. 3 Dial the number to be stored (on the keypad). 4 Press MEM DIAL. 5 Press a Memory Location (1-9 on the keypad), or an EMERGENCY QUICK DIAL button. 6 Press SPEAKER (or hang up the handset). 7 Record the phone number on the memory directory {located under the plastic cover). STorING THE Last NuMBER DIALED Store the last number you dialed by pressing REDIAL instead of dial a phone number (in step 3 of the preceding procedure). ADDING A PAUSE TO THE DIALING SEQUENCE Use the REDIAL button to insert a delay in the dialing sequence when storing a number, for example, when you need to dial 9 to get an outside line. Press REDIAL at the point in the dialing sequence in which a pause is required. CHANGING A STORED NUMBER Change a stored number by replacing it with a different number. CLEARING A STORED NUMBER 1 Pick up the handset or press the SPEAKER button. 2 Press the STORE button. 3 Press the MEM DIAL button; then press an EMERGENCY QUICK DIAL button or a number key (1-9). 4 Hang up. 10DIALING A NUMBER FROM MEMORY You can dial numbers from memory when using the handset or speakerphone. When you get a dial tone, press the MEM DIAL button followed by the memory location (1-9) for the number you want to dial. CAUTION: If you make test calls to emergency numbers, remain on the line and explain the reason for the call. Also, make these calls in off-peak hours, such as early morning or late evening. Una vez que haya decidido el tipo de instalacién que desea, utilice la informacion contenida en uno de los siguientes diagramas de instalacion. ANTES DE COMENZAR REQUISITOS Se requiere un enchufe modular RJ11C o un RJ14C seguin el cédigo USOC (USOC son las siglas en inglés de Universal Service Order Code, es decir, Codigo Universal de Orden de Servicio). La instalacion de este teléfono en puntos con enchufes de 4 espigas 0 con conectadores de alambrado permanente requiere convertidores adicionales (no incluidos). El distribuidor que le vendid el sistema o el encargado de cualquier tienda de suministros telefonicos pueden asesorarle respecto al convertidor apropiado para este tipo de instalaciones.COMO INSTALAR LA BATERIA DE 9V La instalacion de una bateria de 9V es opcional. Sin embargo, conviene sefalar que al instalar esta bateria se esta proporcionando un mejor funcionamiento para las caracteristicas del teléfono altavoz. 1 Remueva la cubierta plastica que se halla sobre el directorio de memoria del teléfono. 2 Abra la puerta del compartimiento de la bateria utilizando la punta plana de un destornillador. 3 Inserte una bateria de 9V (no incluida). 4 Cierre la puerta de la bateria. 5 Vuelva a colocar en su lugar la cubierta plastica sobre el directorio de memoria. Precauciones de seguridad para el uso de la bateria Para su seguridad, sirvase seguir estas instrucciones: + No recargue, desmantele, mutile 0 arroje la bateria al fuego. + Mantenga la bateria lejos del alcance de los nifios. ! * Recambie fa bateria sdlo con una baterla 9V similar (no esté incluida) 3 * Cuando cambia la pila, asegurese de desenchufar el cordén del teléfono antes de insertar la pila.INSTALACION SOBRE MESA O ESCRITORIO Conecte el cordén de la bocina o microteléfono en el microteléfono y en el enchufe hembra situado en el lado izquierdo de Ja unidad. Conecte el cordén largo de linea telefénica en un enchufe hembra modular (RJ11C 6 RJ14C) y en el enchufe hembra PHONE LINE (linea telefénica) ubicado en Ia Parte posterior de la unidad. “Se. Ajuste el conmutador de volumen RINGER (para regular el timbre o sonoridad de los repiques) en la graduacion deseada. Lleve e] conmutador PULSE/ TONE (IMPULSO/TONO) a la posicion TONE (TONO) si usted usa un servicio telefonico de seleccién por tonos; Heve este conmutador a la posicién PULSE (IMPULSO) si usa un servicio rotativo. Envuelta del cordén del teléfono Usted puede remover la placa de base para enrollar el cordon sobrante, evitando asi que éste quede colgando ocupando espacio innecesariamente; una vez hecho esto, vuelva a colocar la placa de base en su lugar.INSTALACGION EN MONTAJE MURAL El teléfono altavoz puede montarse en una placa mural (no incluida) que sostenga firmemente la unidad en la pared. Remueva la placa de base de la parte posterior oprimiendo las lengiietas de presion situadas en la parte superior y levantando la placa separandola de la unidad. Gire el gancho del microteléfono Conecte el cordén del teléfono en el enchufe hembra situado en la parte posterior de la unidad, enrolle el cable sobrante de la linea alrededor de los ganchos situados en la parte inferior de la base y pase el cordén a través del orificio en la parte inferior de la placa de base. Invierta la direccién de la placa de base y vuelva a colocarla en su lugar colocando primero las lengiietas dentro de las ranuras situadas en la parte superior de la unidad y luego insertando a presion las lengiietas en la parte inferior en su lugar. Conecte el cordén telefénico en el enchufe hembra modular en la pared. Deslice los orificios de montaje sobre las puntas de la placa mural y deslice la unidad hacia abajo hasta dejarla trabada firmemente en su lugar. COMO UTILIZAR EL TELEFONO ALTAVOZ UBICACION DEL TELEFONO ALTAVOZ Para obtener el maximo rendimiento de teléfono altavoz, evite lo siguiente: + Areas con un elevado nivel de ruidos de fondo. BoTON MUTE (SILENCIAMIENTO) El botén MUTE desactiva el micréfono de la unidad tanto para el teléfono altavoz como para el microteléfono, de tal manera que cualquier cosa que usted diga no podra ser escuchada por la persona al otro lado de la linea con la que esté hablando. * Oprima el botén MUTE para silenciar el microfone - La luz indicadora se enciende * Oprima el botén MUTE de nuevo para continuar la conversacion telefonica. - La luz indicadora se apaga Boton FLASH Oprima el botén FLASH en lugar de utilizar el conmutador de gancho de la unidad para activar servicios de llamada del cliente, tales como el servicio de espera o transferencia de llamadas, que sean suministrados por su compaiia telefonica local.Boron REDIAL (DE REMARCACION) Si lo desea, puede volver a marcar el Ultimo numero al que Ilamd oprimiendo simplemente el botén REDIAL una vez que haya obtenido un tono de marcacidn. NOTA: La caracteristica de remarcaci6n retiene en memoria el ntimero telefénico que usted marcé en ultimo lugar (este nimero puede tener hasta 32 digitos). Si oprimié algiin numero después de marcar el nimero telef6nico al quellamé por tiltimo (por ejemplo, el niimero extra que se marca para obtener acceso a un sistema de mend hablado), esos niimeros también son marcados automaticamente. BoTon HOLD (DE RETENCION DE LLAMADAS) Utilice el boton HOLD para interrumpir una conversacion telefonica sin colgar (sin cortar la llamada) y seguidamente reanude la conversacion de nuevo en el mismo teléfono o extension. COMO ANADIR UNA PAUSA A LA SECUENCIA DE MARCACION Utilice el botén REDIAL para insertar una pausa a ta secuencia de marcacion cuando esta conservando un numero en memoria, por ejemplo, si tiene que marcar el numero 9 para obtener acceso a una linea telefonica saliente. Oprima REDIAL durante la secuencia de marcacién en el memente en que se necesita la pausa 8. COMO CAMBIAR UN NUMERO ALMACENADO EN MEMORIA Para cambiar un nimero almacenade en memoria, uated simplemente lo substituye con un numero diferente. COMO MARCAR LOS NUMEROS DE MARCACION RApPIDA DE EMERGENCIA Para marcar uno de estos numeros, simplemente oprima su boton una vez que escuche el tono de marcacién.
