Peyto ENERGY TRUST
LSD 07-40-56-21 W5 - Enson, AB
FMI arrived at lease for Peyto Energy trust to find a familiar
Rig on location. PD 427, which has sucesfully run the Fill Drill Stubby before, and is
ready to put it through its paces on another well in the always challenging Edson
area. This well marks our first for Peyto, as they decided to test the tool on a few
wells to gauge its effectivness, and to witness first hand the success that FMI has
been having around Edson, getting the intermediate casing string to bottom with
the Stubby Tool.
The first tight spot was tagged at 265m and continued on for 5m to 2670m. As experienced in the past,
approximatly a dozen strokes were required to clear the 5 meter bridge, and continue on through. Just on
the other side, a second bridge was tagged at 2672m. This section of well is predominatly coal seams, and
the tools and string is worked almost continually for 107m, pausing every joint to circulate and remove any
fill in the hole. Its a slow going, but with adverse well conditions to contend with, the key to a succesful
casing job in this area is constant movement, and slow, steady progress towards TD. A few hours later, the
is past the coal seams, and the job becomes easi
little over an hour. The string was landed at bottom at a depth of 2872m in approximatly 20 hours, with no
‘complications running the casing whatsoever.

While releasing the FMI personel from the lease, the senior drilling superintendent's comments were that
they could not have landed the casing sting without having the stubby tool leading the way. Both
superintendents were very impressed with the performance of the tool. In subsequent phone calls, FMI
learned that there were no issues with the drillout of the stuby tool.
