‘Teenagers should not be given pocket money.’ Express

your views for or against this statement. (300 words)

It is truly said that there is nothing either good or bad. Similarly, it

is the case with pocket money. Pocket money is a small amount of
money which is given by the parents to their children, periodically.
Pocket money plays an important role in a teenager’s life. A
teenager learns a sense of responsibility and knows how to handle
money.
According to me pocket money is a must for every child and I am
against the motion that teenagers should not be given pocket
money and I think by giving pocket money they feel a sense of
responsibility and most important of all, they feel independent. Not
only teenagers, but also children learn the importance of money at
a young age, and how to make the best out of it. They learn one of
the most necessary life skill, which is very important in today’s
world that is learning how to manage money. If children are given
pocket money they become financially independent, if they need
something they would wait for their parents they can just go to the
market and buy all the files, notebooks and folders or a sweet which
they wanted to eat from a while.

Pocket money can also be regulated by the parents; they can

increase the pocket money of their children if they get good grades
or they did something nice and can also be based on their
behaviour. Thus, the child not only learns to spend money
judiciously, but it also improves their character and performance
and learning something new is a whole good experience in itself.
They realise how to manage money at an early stage of life and
when they earn their pocket money they learn the importance of
pocket money and then they spend it very carefully. Today, there
are many applications and many clubs to teach young people the
importance of money and how to use it wisely and according to
one’s needs.

Pocket money is more of a boon than a bane. It helps children to

become independent and manage money smartly. With the right
steps, we can turn this generation into smart and responsible
citizens of tomorrow.
