Management wants to expand the hospital’s capacity and is considering two options

1. INCREASED OPERATIONS
 Add one more day of operation to the existing five-day schedule
 would increase capacity by 20%
 Also improve the efficiency of bed utilization
2. ADDITION OF A FLOOR
 Construction of an additional floor
 would increase the number of beds by 50%
 Lead to a more aggressive scheduling of operation rooms

CONCERNS
 Maintaining control over quality and service delivery
 May lead to additional burden on the doctors and staff
 Make it harder to maintain the positive working relationship and attitudes
