Heartburn, Acid Reflux, or GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) are probably some of the

most common diseases in the world. Billions of dollars are being spent on medication to treat
these diseases. In an interview with Chief Medical Officer in the U.S., it was stated that
heartburn can be a symptom of acid reflux or GERD. Some of the common signs are a burning
sensation from your stomach going to your chest and throat.

But what really is happening in our body whenever someone is experiencing any of these
diseases?

Our stomach produces acid to help digest the food that we eat. Between our esophagus and
stomach is a muscle called Lower Esophageal Sphincter (LES) which closes every time food in
our stomach is being digested. Acid reflux or GERD happens when LES remains open causing
the acid to leak back or reflux to our esophagus.
What is causing LES to relax or remain open?

A medical physician in Singapore stated that the presence of H.pylori (Helicobacter pylori)
bacteria may be causing it. These are tiny spiral rod-like bacterias hiding within the walls of the
stomach and small intestine. Some medical practitioner says that 50% of adults have this
bacteria but in some study in Brazil, H.pylori is already present to children due to deficient
sanitation and poor habitation condition in a crowded environment. The danger of these bacteria
will begin once they started colonizing our digestive system.

NATURAL REMEDIES:

ALOE VERA JUICE - this remedy is beneficial to those who have decreased production of
Hydrochloric Acid (HCl), Saliva or Pancreatic enzyme, and bile juices. It also decreases
inflammation in the stomach. You might be wondering how might it help? There are numerous
chemical substances in aloe vera including vitamins and minerals but one substance of it called
anthraquinones is what provides the natural healing effect. The bitter taste of this substance
helps produce more HCl, saliva, bile, and pancreatic juices to help in digesting our foods which
will go down our small intestine rather than go up to our esophagus.

EMBELIA RIBES (VIDANG) - This is a very powerful anti-parasitic herb of Ayurveda, which is
found in the hilly parts of India and lower Himalayas of South India, Srilanka, Singapore,
Southern China, South Indonesia, and some parts of Africa. It is proven to effectively eliminate
intestinal parasites such as tapeworm and ringworm and may work on H.pylori as well. Just like
aloe vera, it also has the bitter taste that is so effective as a natural cure for treating H.pylori.
Other benefits from this herb are, proper peristalsis or the wave-like movement of the intestine
improves appetite, relieves bloating, indigestion, and constipation, useful in abdominal pain, and
much more.

SEA BUCKTHORN OIL - Another powerful plant that grows in the Himalayas that has been
used as a natural medicine for thousands of years. This helps our internal organs work properly
promoting healthy blood flow and just like aloe vera, it improves the production of saliva. The
flavonoids in this oil are powerful in protecting our body from infections caused by bacteria
overgrowths such as H.pylori and E.coli. It also contains 18 amino acids and 11 trace minerals
which boost human health. Other than acid reflux and GERD, this plant has numerous benefits
in our body such as:

● Lower blood sugar

● Liver health
● Improves blood circulation
● Helps aid arthritis
● Contains omega fatty acids like omega 3,6,7, and 9
● Menopausal stage
● Skin/wound protection
● Skin diseases (eczema, psoriasis)
● Eye and mouth dryness
● Anti-aging and anti-cancer properties
● Stronger immune system

TRIPHALA - In Ayurveda, this herbal mixture has a lot of powerful properties that have been
used for centuries as a natural cure. Triphala came from India which means three fruits since it
is a mixture of three dried fruits namely gooseberry (Emblica Officinalis), Haritaki (Terminalia
Chebula), and black myrobalan (Terminalia Chebula). The combination of these three makes it
very effective in detoxifying the whole body and treating people with any digestive disorder. It
naturally cleanses the digestive tract and corrects any intestinal disorders such as constipation
and diarrhea. This combination is so powerful that it cleanses toxic waste from our digestive
system which was caused by poor digestion from an unhealthy diet. Other benefits from
Triphala are as follows:

● promotes normal blood pressure and circulation

● Improves liver health
● Anti-inflammatory property
● Supports normal immune system function
● Anti-aging and anti-cancer properties
● Stimulate bile production
● Improves peristalsis

Other than these natural remedies, it is also vital that we practice proper hygiene, healthy diet,
exercise, and meditation in our daily lives. This way, we can prevent unseen bacterias to
colonize our body which will, in turn, make us suffer from various diseases.
