IS SURFACE WATER SAFE FOR HUMAN BEINGS?

In one word, surface water is not safe potable water for human.
Surface water is hazardous, infectious and injurious to human
health in various way.

WHY SURFACE WATER IS NOT SAFE FOR HUMAN BEINGS?

Surface water is amalgamated with air and soil at everywhere of nature.
So, miscellaneous matter from soil and atmosphere can be mixed easily
with water. So, surface water generally exists as a solution of various
elements. These elements can be found as dissolved matter, insoluble
substances and microorganisms; which are injurious to health.

Generally microorganism infections cause acute illness and substances

cause acute and chronic fatal diseases. For this reason, surface water is
not safe at all.

WHAT IS SURFACE WATER?

Surface water is the subsistent water on the earth surface in ocean, sea,
river, stream, lake, canal, pond, wetland, vapor, icecaps, glaciers, soil
moisture and in earth crust aquifers etc. This water is essential for
adaptation and survival of living creature and sustainable ecosystem.

Amount of surface water is nearly 97.53% of total water and ground water
is 0.77%. Rest 1.7% is icecaps and glaciers.

Surface water equilibrium is maintained by natural water cycle through

precipitation and lifting ground water.

TYPES OF SURFACE WATER:

There exist two types of surface water.

 Saline (salty) water
 Non-saline water

Water from oceans and seas is salty. Water from other sources are non-
saline water.

NECESSITY OF SURFACE WATER:

Researchers found that, 97.5% is saline (salty) water and only 0.03% is
non-saline water in earth. Most of the aquatic life depends on saline water
beside this animal life mainly survive on non-saline water of earth’s surface.

WHY NEED SURFACE WATER?

In general it can be said, to avail the resources from non-saline water is

comparatively easy to access than saline water for human beings. For this
reason non saline water is considered as significant precious resource for
mankind. It has inevitable importance for, sustainability of animal life.

So we should prohibit environmental pollution to preserve our precious

surface water.
