Short description of operational sequence

Generator conditions

POLYMAT 50 runs through 19 different conditions numbered from 0 to 23 (Fig. on

page 2-6).

The transition from one condition to another can take place in two ways:

1. An interrupt causes a change of condition, e.g. actuation of the preparation

switch signals the intention to make an exposure to the system. The condition
changes from 4 (or 5 or 6) to 8.

2. A task whose delay cycle is running causes a change of condition. For ex-
ample, in the event of a transition from condition 5 (standby > = 1.2 sec) to
condition 6 (standby > = 20 sec).

Conditions 0 3 4 5 6 (bootstrap and standby)
After generator power-up, a diagnostic procedure for the p-c. boards in situ is
performed. The operating system then changes to condition "0" (bootstrap). In
this condition, (if required) the various EEPROM areas are deleted. These store
the installation parameters of the system, the errors which have occurred and the
filament correction values for the tubes connected.

This is followed by a change to condition "3", i.e. waiting condition until operating
temperature is reached. The tube filament needs 3 seconds to warm up to opera-
ting temperature from the switched-off (cold) state.

A task causes a change in condition after 3 seconds to "4" (standby) and after a
further 1.2 seconds the change to "5". This is the start of the anode braking pro-
cess.

After 18.8 seconds, the system changes to condition "6", again initiated by the
above mentioned task. The generator remains in this condition until an external
interrupt is received (preparation or fluoroscopy request).
