Part II: Reflection

CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS:
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)

1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and
leadership from completing this field experience?

In this field experience, I was tasked with creating a multimedia designed project. I chose to create a
WebQuest using Google Sites. The WebQuest focused on a PreCalculus unit on vectors. The project required
certain multimedia elements to be included. The overall experience was beneficial to my professional
practices as an educator and/or future technology coach.

This field experience helped me to realize what a significant impact technology facilitation can have on a
single learning experience. The development of the WebQuest allowed me to pull multiple resources from all
over the internet and place them into a single engaging activity. This facilitated a more streamlined learning
experience for the students because all the learning material was in one location. Proper technology
facilitation, like WebQuest, can allow teachers to meet the diverse needs of all their students. Students can
move at their own pace and revisit material for clarification purposes.

The experience allowed me to see the importance of knowing a variety of technological resources and how to
implement those resources into educational experiences. Technology leadership requires extensive knowledge
of technology, proper planning of implementation, and consideration of student needs. All of these
components were considered as I planned my WebQuest.
2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you be able to
do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology
leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the language of the PSC standards in your
answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and dispositions.)

Knowledge: This learning related to the knowledge of a technology coach through the design and
implementation of technology to enhance the learning experience (PSC 1.1 & 1.2). The periodic quizzes,
rubric assessment, and the feedback page demonstrate my understanding of continuous assessment, and data
analysis are used to drive future instruction (PSC 2.6, 2.7, & 2.8). The design of the WebQuest encouraged
collaboration while managing the proper usage of digital devices (PSC 3.1 & 3.2).

Skills: The learning experience demonstrates my ability to design a standards-based, differentiated, online
learning experience to meet the diverse needs of my students (2.1, 2.2, 2.5, 3.3). The design of the WebQuest
demonstrates my ability to design authentic learning experiences which encourage higher-order thinking
skills (PSC 2.3, 2.4, & 2.6). The implementation of audio recordings, video, and closed captioning
demonstrate my ability to provide assistive and adaptive technologies in lessons (PSC 3.4). The feedback
page demonstrates my ability to utilize digital communication with students and other educators (PSC 3.7).

Dispositions: This learning experience demonstrates my belief in a shared vision of the importance of
technology in the classroom experience (PSC 1.1 & 1.2). The design and implementation of the WebQuest
demonstrate my belief all students should have equal access to digital tools and resources which will meet the
diverse needs of all students (PSC 4.1 & 4.3). This learning experience demonstrates my belief that a
technology coach should be a continuous learner through self-reflection and appropriate field experiences
(PSC 6.1, 6.2, & 6.3).

3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or student
learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?

This field experience impacted both school improvement and faculty development at my school. School
improvement was impacted through the implementation of technology in the learning experience. This level
of technology use aligns with the school’s vision for technology implementation in the classroom. This type
of learning experience facilitates student engagement. Increased student engagement leads to higher student
achievement. Higher student achievement leads to overall school improvement.

Faculty development was impacted by the professional development of its staff. I now have the knowledge to
coach my peers in the development of WebQuest and the use of a variety of technological resources. The
availability of a technology coach in the school will facilitate professional development through the ease of
access to coaching and instruction. Through field experiences like this, I have developed the knowledge and
skills set needed to be an effective technology coach which is critical for faculty development in school.
