Waste is any action or step in a process that does not add value to the customer.
The seven wastes are Transportation, Inventory, Motion, Waiting, Overproduction,
Over processing, and defects.

Process waste means any water which comes into direct contact with any raw
material, intermediate product, finished product, by- product, or waste product
during a manufacturing or processing operation. This does not include domestic
wastewater, noncontact cooling water or boiler blow down.
