STEP BY STEP PROTOCOL

ACUPRESSURE’S MIRACLE POINTS

You can begin and End an Acupressure treatment by doing the following:

Place one hand over the client’s forehead and one hand over their navel.
There are E.S.R (Emotional Stress Release) Points located on the forehead so
by placing one hand here you help to increase blood flow to the area and
thus help to defuse any emotional stress in the client’s system. One hand over
the navel will also help to defuse any conflict in their system.

This protocol is a really great way of connecting with your client initially and
preparing them for the deep level of balancing you are about to complete. I
would usually hold these points for approximately 3 minutes at the beginning
and end of an Acupressure Treatment.

(In general I would use the index and middle fingers together when applying
pressure to acupressure points). Remember from your course notes/manual -
you need to use prolonged finger pressure directly on each point. The rule of
thumb is to apply slow, firm pressure on the point at a 90 degree angle from
the surface of the skin. If you are pulling the skin, then the angle of pressure is
incorrect. Consciously and gradually direct the pressure into the centre of the
part of the body you’re working on. It's important to apply and release finger
pressure gradually because this allows the tissues time to respond, thus
promoting healing.
Once you’ve completed your initial 3 minutes (with one hand over the client’s
forehead and one hand over their navel) proceed by applying pressure to the
1st set of Miracle Points on the right and left hands simultaneously.

Lu11 (Lung 11) - The Lu11 points are located on the outside corner of the
thumb nail bed. (See image below) Apply pressure to the points for
approximately 3 minutes.

Finish the treatment as you began, by placing one hand over the client’s
forehead and one hand over their navel for approximately 3 minutes.
What can I expect to feel while working on the points?
What you are looking for when working on the acupressure points is a
synchronised pulse at both points - i.e. you want to feel a pulsation at the
right and left point together - simultaneously. Sometimes you may feel a
pulsation on one side/point straight away and nothing on the other side. You
should continue to hold the points until you feel this pulsation on both sides
simultaneously or until 3 minutes are up. Usually it doesn’t take longer than 3
minutes for this synchronised pulsation to occur. Sometimes you can feel the
pulsation after only 1-2 minutes. This synchronised pulsation indicates an
increase of blood flow or healing energy to the area you are working on.
Once you feel this pulsation, even if it’s sooner than 3 minutes, you can move
to the next set of points - again looking for the same synchronised pulsation.

What if I can’t feel a pulse at the points?

Often new students will find it challenging to initially feel a pulsation at the
points, this can be due to nerves, lack of confidence working with the points,
or sometimes the client’s energy is so low that only a vague pulse is present
making it more difficult to detect. Just focus on your breathing, taking long,
slow, deep breaths and continue to hold the points for approximately 3
minutes. As you get more practice working with the points you’ll soon find
you can sense the pulsation at points with ease.

What can a client expect to feel during a treatment - is

there anything that I should make them aware of before I
get to work?
As we’re working with energy points and releasing any blockages of energy
from the meridian channels, different feelings or sensations can arise for a
client during a session. These can vary from feeling nothing or very little,
feeling hot or cold in a particular area (not necessarily the area you’re
working on), tingling sensation, energy running up and down the arms, legs,
face etc or sometimes a client may feel a sudden ache or pain which will often
disappear again quite quickly. You may also notice gurgling in your client’s
stomach as you work on some stomach/large/small intestine points. These
feelings or sensations are completely normal, very common during a session
and are a really positive sign that you’re shifting stagnant energy, so well
done!
About the Author

After several years of intensive study in many different disciplines I found that
the alternative therapy that was producing the fastest, most profound and
long lasting results among my clients was Kinesiology so I decided to
specialise. The particular branch of Kinesiology I work in is known as
Neuroenergetic Kinesiology or NEK.

The majority of my training in this discipline was completed in Northern

Ireland with Ms. Orla Brady, Roslea and further training then in Steyr, Austria
with Hugo Tobar, Founder of NEK. At present the Neuroenergetic Kinesiology
Institute has 6 International colleges around the world with colleges in
Australia, Austria, Belgium, The Netherlands the United States and Ireland. In
September 2010 I took over the role of Principal of The Irish College of
Neuroenergetic Kinesiology, a role which I continued in until 2015.

Having served as Secretary of The Kinesiology Association of Ireland for almost

2 years I was delighted when on March 7th 2015 I was voted in as the new
Chairperson.

A past student of the Institute of Health Sciences, I gained expertise in many

different areas such as Chemistry, Biochemistry & Nutrition, Biology, Anatomy
& Physiology, Pathophysiology and Pharmacology to name but a few. This
experience alongside my passion for Kinesiology, Acupressure, Traditional
Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Nutrition has led me down the path of writing
and teaching a variety of courses in these areas to optimise Health and Well-
Being. In August 2015 I also gained international recognition for these courses
with IICT, The International Institute for Complementary Therapists.
