ALTERNATIVE ACTIVITY

1. In a two-paragraph composition, describe Philippine Literature under Spanish

Colonialism.

During Philippine literature under the Spanish Colonialism, the Spaniards

had also a good contribution in the Philippines that we continually used and
practiced. Such as the first Filipino alphabet which called Alibata, but they were
changed into Roman alphabet. But believing that it is a work of evil that’s why
they banned it. Spaniards also introduced education that helped us to be more
knowledgeable and learn new things, and also religion, wherein it digs us deeper
to know and understand more who the real God is that we should be the only one
praising. They had also introduced the Doctrina Cristiana, those ancient literature
was collected and translated into Tagalog to understand even better. There were
also folk songs, dramas, books, language and others. And, because Filipinos are
fast learner and smart, they had also done and create their own based on their
real situations, feelings and thoughts or imagination like the works of Jose Rizal.

All of these have been part of culture and tradition and in our life. Many
generations had passed by, and still we didn’t forget what we had learned from
the Spanish colonizers even though there were countries that colonized us and
had contributed some of their cultures and traditions. Despite the other literatures
that had been appended still, the ancient literature of the Philippines was and still
exists. Through their help, we’re able to learn how to appreciate what has given
by our forefathers and be able to learn new things. We may not be able to look
beyond our capacity, abilities that is waiting, that there is a world where we can
show to them how proud we are of what we have. The works of Filipinos before
becomes a way in which many young people had imitated which gives them into
deep passion for this that expresses their selves to the world, orally or written.
Ancient literature may have changed but, a part of it was still included for it is
where the Philippines’ origin of literature.
