The Parquesoft company began operating in 1999, the year in which Colombia suffered an
economic contraction of 4.2 percent, which led to the bankruptcy of numerous companies
and a substantial increase in unemployment at rates close to 20 percent.

In the midst of this not very encouraging outlook, Orlando Rincón decided to face the
challenge of creating a technology-generating company in which its main objective was the
generation of employment for young entrepreneurs in the southwestern part of the country.

This is how the Cali Software Technology Park Foundation was born. In 2000, the
company had hired 30 people and three years later it already exceeds 620 with an average
age of 23 years.

Orlando Rincón's goal is to create 4,000 jobs by 2008 for young talents with an average age
of 20 years.

The company operates under a self-sustaining model, financed with contributions from
entrepreneurs living in the company's area of influence. Rincón says that the company
operates under an associative entrepreneurship scheme in which there is a union policy to
make economies of scale and reduce costs. It is a socialist model with a market vision, says
the businessman.

Currently, the company is located in an area of 2,500 square meters in the industrial zone of
Cali and has a growth potential of 8,000 square meters to install 400 companies.

Among Parquesoft's star products there are help programs for people with physical
disabilities and autism.

Incubation allows startups to access high-content innovative resources. dor within the
framework of the knowledge economy; due to its ability to energize regional economies,
generate employment and increase the technological content of companies in their first
years of gestation and operation in Colombia
