Use Case

Case: StarInsurance is P&C insurance company of America. They have 4000+ distributors / brokers who
write business on behalf of Star Insurance. Application is web based to produce the Quote and Bound
policy but still lot of email underwriting team received on daily basis to provide the quote.

All email goes to dedicated email address quote@starinsurance.com from there it is picked up by
underwriting assistance to distribute work request among different team. Every day thousands of email
are received on this distribution email that required allocation.

Here is the structure of team that are organized based on product offering.

1. Excess Causality – EC
2. Health Care – HC
3. Error and Emission – ENO

Ask: The expectation here is to have an auto allocation process that’s perform the role of underwriting
assistant. Not only that if possible, to access the policy portal then key the data based on email and
create a quote and send details to broker.
Current Process Flow

Start

Email received at quote@starinsurance.com

Underwriting assistant pick the email based on LOB (line of

Business) that is product (ENO, EC, HC)

Create a work time for Underwriter based on LOB

ENO (U) EC (U) HC(U)

Login to Portal and select lob

Key insured information into portal Start

Generate Quote and Send information to Broker

Close the work Item
